Two Stroke On The Dyno

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Wassy, Dec 24, 2016.

  1. I know a few of you on here are into two strokes and I have a couple on the go. There are a few engine conversion kits on the go and here are the results of Dave Whattam's.
Dave is up in Malton and has a newly acquired Dyno.
If you want your two stroke setting up he's your man.
    This is his 421 conversion.

The next graph shows the difference in how quick the engine now rev's up to peak power etc, as you can see a massive 3 secs knocked off it, now ya going to feel that on the road !

Of course the final proof of the pudding is to ride it

I have one other thing to change on the bike which should see peak power come up further, possibly 105bhp, but that is one for next year now !

All in all, a very satisfactory day, although I did use all of the 20 litres of petrol as well - its a thirsty beast !

  2. ;)
Nice work. You can't beat a good stink wheel.
All I need now is to see it in action

  3. and that graph describes exactly what its like to feel a 2st kick a power band in...flaaaaaaaaaaaat->BANG->WAHOO!!

  4. Best feeling in the world! I miss my 250 a lot! But I have to say, it being 'only' a 250 didn't make me ride any slower, I rode it like a total dick on the road because it needed 8k Revs before it was even interested

  5. Love the smell of twostroke in the morning.

  6. Yes, they can be a handfull. Here's a mate of mine experiencing the power band at Scarborough a few years ago

  10. there seems to be a large RD owners club that passes through the village up here every now and then, everything from the old aircooled to ypvs.at least i think so, kind of hard to see through the haze. superb. gonna get me a 500lc one day.

  11. We used to stick a table spoon full into a full tank of petrol and slosh it about,so you got the smell without the expense...(geezer near us raced and gave us the dregs).
He also gave us a couple of litres of methanol once,we stuck it in a ditch-found Norman Nippy and my mate towed me behind his scooter to get it started.
Went like an English Electric Lightning for about 20 seconds, before the inevitable and predictable occurred.
Which was when an estimated 65mph,a missing front brake cable and a series of S bends suddenly became far more important than outright performance.

  12. Probably the North East RD club. We have a run up to Oban every year.
500's are silly money now 10k plus.
I've had three and a well set up valve is much more fun tbh.

  15. Quality! Nothing out there to match the brute force of a TZ750 on full chat.

  19. Yes, one of Spondon's mechanical antidive setups.
