Hi All, First time on the forum, whilst not new to biking certainly new to Ducati. The forum is great and has been a good source of reading. I've decided to give up riding for a number of reasons and do still want to keep a bike in the garage if only to look at. My thoughts are a 749 Dark, there's a nice low mileage, low owner one locally. My question is as I intend to just store the bike whether this would be a good option or for similar money the 748 and hopefully appreciate in value. Does anyone know how many Dark's were made?
749 R or S would be the ones to invest in IMHO.... I have the 749 base model but with Mono seat so thats my investment because I've had it from new.
the Dark does look nice, esp with black being the new red grinning: ) but it is the lowest of the 749 range and is not thot to appreciate as much as ( said ) S or R ,, ( but still better than 748 :flushed: :flushed,,, ps,, maybe if you do get it you can swap the clothes for my red ones !! .

for the right money buy it! Think it would take a long time for a dark to appreciate a great deal in value but it depends on what your expectations are and how cheap it is. As said, the r's a going up in value but that is reflected in what you will pay for one now and how high will they go? Who knows.. Certainly wouldn't think youd lose money on the dark if got for a fair price and if nothing other than a piece of art to look at, go for it!
