Ok I'll start off with two bikes that still bug me for not buying for whatever stupid reason know only to me. Bike 1. RC45 in 2002. I used to import loads of bikes from Germany and bought myself a brand new GSXR 1000 K2. Beside it in the showroom was a lovely 45. Crazy money said Ralph who's shop it was its 1000 ( euro or Dm I can't remember now ) more than the Suzuki which was about £7k if I remember correctly. Bike 2. Spondon Armstrong 250 race bike with Astralite wheels and spare engine. £500 in the yellow paper at Stockton . I walked away........didn't like the bloke selling it !
I got offered David Jefferies 2003 super stock gsxr but had just bought my 1198 and couldn't raise the rest of the cash!! God I wish I had that bike.
Mint 2000 mile 996R about 3 years ago - went for £12000 at Bonham's Stafford Auction - couldn't afford it on the day unch:
I was offered a Paul Smart in 2008 for £6500, I didn't buy it because I sold mine the year before and lost a fortune and thought who the hell would want one of those bloody things. Mind you I did buy a Sport 1000 the same year for £3500, wish I'd of kept that, it sold on eBay last year for £9500
Not a bike swap but in 1975 I did a levels swap for a 69 Buick Skylark V8 Coupe with a series 1 and half E Type 4.2 Drophead which smoked big time and body was rusty and full of bondo. In 43 years as a car dealer it was my 2nd worst car deal!
Had the chance to own Paul "Rosey" Roses (sadly RIP NOW AND VERY MISSED) thin engined Yamaha TZ 750 Drag bike.Basically two TZ 750 engines engineered side by side! Amazing bit of engineering by Paul who also built a twin engined 1500cc Triumph bonnie and a triple engined Kawasaki (I think?).The man was a true legend, total one off and a gentleman
