  12. July will see us on another euro tour if things go right.
3 hours from Ijmuiden, then Eifel national park, Black forest, Austria passes inc Timmelsjoch. Few days in Italian Dolomites. Back through some Swiss twisties. Rhine falls. B500 south to north. Back up to Cochem...then head home.
Fingers crossed for it all working to plan ;)

  13. Good suggestion, and if there were any boats that would definitely be worth a visit. The problem is, boats to Poland leave from Sweden, and we usually have only 3-5 days as both my friend and I have small kids. That means we could only be only Poland for 1 day. Ok, same thing can be said about one route I just made up with google:

Here, we should be able to reach Daugavpils in one day. Also, when we started to go to Estonia in 2004, it was not that known to the general public and foreigners and especially bikers were not common. Kids were running in small villages to wave us etc. Nowadays that's just a day like another. It would be interesting to visit Belarus not because of the biking, but because it's kind of the last dictatorships around (if we don't count Putin). I'd like to go to Russia, but that still is too much of a coin toss how you end up.

  14. Hmm, got a new idea. Never been to Russia, and it seems Kaliningrad is intereting from a military POV. I am going to see my friend tonight who will be joining me to the trip, let's see if he sees it the same way I do :)

I did also think about flying to Spain and renting a bike, especially as my parent's have an appartment there. But, the costs will be much higher, and currently I still want to use my own bike.

  20. Hah. I am quite jealous of this, our winter is just starting. Currently end of week is forecasted at -30C. Let's see if the snow melts this year before may. And even if it should, the problem is all the sand that has been put everywhere due to ice, and it's usually in heaps in the corners...

A second thing I'm envious, I read all the time on Fast Bikes etc. how all you need to do is take a Ferry and in a couple of hours you're in France, and then it's only a days ride to go the neighbouring countries... I can take a boat from Helsinki to Germany, but I think it takes around 1,5 days and costs about 200-300 pounds in the summer.

But anyway, it's really fun just to prepare the trip, look for the hotels and things to see etc. And I do believe I still need to learn and adjust the valve clearences this winter :)
