Anyone ever been to Misano?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Stuart Fordyce, Nov 24, 2012.

  1. Just seen the revised MotoGP calendar and thinking of combining the planned trip to Italy this summer with the girlfriend with the MotoGP at Misano. (Can't do Mugello before anyone asks). Has anyone ever been to Misano - advice/tips?

  2. yes, this summer, spent 3-4 days travelling down leisurely, WDW2012, then 3-4 days heading back

    do it :upyeah:

  3. Where would be best to watch the races from? Is it like Silverstone where there's big screens around the track so you can see everything?

  4. not sure where to watch from, i was on the track

i watched some of the 848 challenge and we were in the grandstands out the back of the circuit, i wouldnt know where the best place would be - sorry

  5. Did Misano this year, down thru France to Monaco, round to Pisa then onto Rimini. Stayed there and travelled to the circuit, only half hour away. Did the Ducati factory tour and Rossi's cafe in Tavullia.

Took 3 days down and 3 days back. We were in Prato 1, no screen but you can see most of the track n your only 50m from it so good for pics. The noise in Prato 2 is mental as its seems to be a cauldron n the bikes are dropping down gears nearly made the ears bleed! there are screens but mainly for the rich ones in the seats...lol

Defo recommend it....will be doing it again for sure

Stayed here, only 100m from the beach, clean rooms and they forget to keep tabs on your bar bill, the old boy who owns it lets you park under the hotel for free...

  7. Love it took Mrs M a few years ago, fabulous place to take the other half or not. Cattolica and Riccione are nice, right on the coast one is upmarket and one a family type place but I cant remember. Really great atmosphere one night we bumped into Toby Moody and Julian Ryder genuine enough lads. The circuit is fab close up action. You must if you go check out Tavullia even though I am not his biggest fan (Rossi) Tavullia is a great place race week and worth the 15-20 min ride. Great food, fantastic people and all a bit of fun. Thoroughly recommended.

PM me if you fancy a chat been a couple of times great place to enjoy racing and appease your better half :)
    cheers Mill.,

  8. Seats seem quite dear, and to be honest it looks as if the best views are from Prato 1 or 2 anyway - Google Streetview goes right round the circuit! My girlfriend enjoys bike racing - both on the telly and when we've gone to Silverstone - so not much appeasement needed, and hopefully the weather will be better than 2012.

  9. Mugello has been on my bucket list for a long time now an I'd always discarded the idea of going to Misano... but this sounds like a great trip. I think I want to look into this for 2014! 2013 is out but could maybe manage it in 2014.

Hope you get the trip sorted and have fun!!

  10. It's certainly on the "to do" list and the subject of this and Mugello has already been broached with SWMBO. And she seemed to be ok with it :upyeah:

  11. If you want to cut costs the camp site used during WDW is right on the beach, only 10 mins from the circuit.

  12. Another one here that went to WDW this year, stayed in a family run hotel ( The Park ) in Rimini, best holiday in years and fell in love with the area, a trip up to San Marino while you are there is a must.

  13. I would offer 1 tip if you go. Park in one of the units on Race day.

As you approach the track thru the industrial estate by Prato 1 or 2, you will be haranged by scooter riders asking if you want to park up in one of the units, its €10 for the day and they provide fruit, cake, juices n coffee as well as some bubble wrap to sit on all included in the fee.

We came out at the end of the race and a guy was huddled round his italian plated R1 minus his exhausts! Some toe rag had them away!

  14. Yes Crazy Harry, I remember, I was at the same site as you at WDW 2007. You had the silver Multi. The camp was ideally located and had good showers/toilets/restaurants across the road/warm sea/hot sand and women........

  17. I was just down the bank to the right of the entrance as you walk through

  18. To the left of the entrance, watched a couple of guys jump from the bank to the right over the barbed wire to get on the track, 1 got on track, the other was blocked by the rather pi**ed off marshalls, funny watching him caught in the barbed wire not knowing where to go!

Bad pic of the successful one taken from IPhone as camera battery died just at the end of the race!

  19. Cattolica is 3km down the road on the sea - great restaurants and gelato shops - I love the area - we've been 4/5 times now and done 3 wdws. You'll love it .

  20. Thanks for all the replies guys, Heeran is quite keen on it too so we'll just have to wait until French Motorrail release their tickets for next summer!
