Oil leak :-(

  1. Hi. Prime case of buyer beware I guess - swapped my mint Daytona privately for a gloss black 749. Duc was filthy but has cleaned up nicely although still needs some tlc (headlamp bucket respray prob needed and rear running light needs fixing). Also no number plate light - is this needed?
Anyway potential worst thing - found small drip of oil on exhaust belly after running the bike up. Oil snail trail coming from left hand side of bike. I'm not mechanically able (disabled rider) so will take bike to mechanic to fix but just wondered if any thoughts re origin of leak - ie get a loan organised or could this be something fairly minor?
Bike has been serviced ok - belts etc done at Parkys in Colchester in July. Any thoughts on these guys / any other recommendation in Colchester area?
    Apols for rambling post lol.
    Thanks,
    Andrew.

  2. Are you able to take the fairing off and take a picture or two?

  3. That would help! :)

Leaky filter, loose cooler pipe fittings, I have just had Big Grief with a leaky cambelt driveshaft seal, which runs down and drips off looking like blown cooler pipe joint?

Could be many things without looking...

  4. Cooler pipe fittings are on the right side.

  5. Granted - it runs down and drips off the belly of the engine, onto the exhaust.

Running down off the lefthand side could be a blown o-ring between the barrel/cases?

  6. Cheers for swift replies guys - thought as much re could be many things unless take fairings off and look / take pics. I'm off on hols for two weeks on friday, but could see about taking fairings off when get back, although I guess it will be what it will be! Bloody bikes lol, black hole for money, nearly kill ya (my error admittedly) and then you finally get the bike you've fancied for years and it starts wetting itself lol. Will persevere with it as it looks great and love it despite its minor!!?? gremlins.
Thanks again and will post up re progress - any thoughts re reliable peeps to use?
    Cheers again,
    Andrew.

  7. Wherabouts in North Essex are you? Bit far for me but Im sure there are people closer than would be pleased to help sort your bike out over Winter?

  8. running down the nearside could be because its on the stand that side......

  9. Good point re leaning to left cos of stand:)
I'm near Frinton on sea - any help appreciated, but certainly not expected (meant in a nice way btw lol).
Roll on spring - bike fixed all being well and hopefully get a few more miles in than last year:)
