Hi everyone! I'm brand shiny new having passed my DAS in Enfield a few weeks ago. I jumped straight onto the bike I've always wanted, a 696 Monster. The balance and handling of the bike are perfect for my short height and build. The only problem I'm having is the ridiculously long bite point on the clutch so I'm on the look out for some new levers to resolve this. I can't wait to get more miles in as the weather dries up. Deb
How did you find it? Everyone told me the Monster steered like a barge and to get a street triple instead. I've not found that at all and if anything the handling is easier than the gladius I learnt on.
Ta dah! I haven't started making any cosmetic changes yet as I figure I should ride for at least a month and wait to see if I break anything dropping her first :flushed:
Congratz, have you checked to see if the clutch bite point on the lever can be adjusted before spending cash?
The position of the lever can be adjusted but even on the closest setting the bite point is still too far for me (I do have really tiny hands). I posted earlier in the technical forum about this and someone there informed me that unfortunately the bite point itself isn't adjustable which is frustrating. The bite point is at the very end of my reach which means I'm quite slow setting off and I need to fix it asap before someone rear ends me at traffic lights.
It is but the bite point is at the very end and even on a close setting it's too far for me as I've got really small hands. The other bikes (which isn't many) I've riden had the biting point about halfway which was perfect.
loved it and had lots of fun although i did end up with a Pani and a scrambler and now just a DVT, I'm keeping this one for a couple of years!
Nice! My 125 is a little suzuki GN which is so easy and comfortable to ride I did consider the scrambler for a while, gorgeous thing that it is. Especially after riding round a bit on my neighbours triumph bonnerville. The Monster felt like the sensible option for a first bike tho'.
