Looks like the weather isn't going to get any better so I decided to stick the 848 on a charger and put together my Ducati rear stand in preparation for a few months of dullness. Well I got to the point of having assembled the stand easily enough (i'm no spanner monkey and meccano is as far as it goes for me). Reading the instructions on how to use the stand the bit at the bottom where is says 'be careful not to drop the bike on its side' and the fact I have never used one before got me rather 'twitchy'. There must be a knack to using the stand which I obviously have not discovered yet. Anyway after several minutes of sweating, heaving, and a few blue words I gave up rather risk my p & j. Any advice appreciated? I am assuming I can do this on my own without the assistance of another person. Regards, Perplexed.
Using Pit Bull One Armed Rear stands on motorcycles with single sided swingarm - YouTube about 33 secs in. Although I stand behind my bike when lifting on to the stand. But you get the pic.
Mark, I'd get someone to hold the bike upright while you put the stand in. The person holding the bike needs to hold both bars firmly and pull the bike into their hips while you put the stand in. It's important not to hold the brakes on as the bike goes onto the stand as the bike will move backwards. It's pretty simple, but a little daunting at first.
