  1. Those that know me, will know that my dogs are everything to me.

I've just had to say a final goodbye to Bay, my best friend, and it hurts like hell.

  8. Sorry m8....

  9. Really sorry for you, we only have Cleo for a few weeks a year, but she is really part of the family whenever she visits. She is my dad's dog, and as youngest is allergic to dogs we cannot have one full time. Needless to say it is youngest who walks her, looks after her and cleans up after her. Supposed to be picture attached, but it would not connect to my computer, she is a Jack Russell tart, spends most of her life asleep.

  10. Sorry to hear that ... I would love another dog oneday if I ever lead a settled life.
I had a dachshund for 13 years .. My partner in grime..
She was like me if she liked you she liked you and if she did not watch your ankles!
The only little dog I've seen square up to a St Bernard owner was told she did not like other dogs except her king Charles friend.

When she died it hurt me then when most humans die ..
I've not been able to have a dog since as I'm too flighty .

My ideal life would be a reasonAbly settled life , workshop or garage , out building ( not out door loo!) a real fire and a dog or two and an old Landy... Can't see it happening ..
    Hugs to you x

  11. Very sorry to hear of your sad loss...
Those who are not dog-owners can never really understand how much a part of the family they really are.

If it should be I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you should do what must be done
For this last battle can’t be won.
You will be sad, I understand
Don’t let your grief then stay your hand,
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.
Do not grieve that it should be you
Who has decided this thing to do
We've been so close, we two, these years
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

We've had so many happy years
What is to come will hold no fears,
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes - please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only stay with me to till the end,
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you too will see,
It is a kindness you do for me
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

  12. Thanks for that JR. I've had that poem many years, it's so poignant and true, but doesn't stop the pain. For me Bay was not just a dog, she was my canine soulmate - many will think that's crap, but dog owners will know what I mean and those that don't, well they can go **** themselves.

I was also sent this a while back, hence my reference to Rainbow Bridge...now I can feel myself welling up again..I bloody hate this!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

  14. I know that to say "I've been through it myself and I understand your pain" is no great comfort, but you have my sympathies...

  15. My deepest sympathies, I know how it hurts. Been throught it twice and it still hurts. I'm sure Penny and Zak will look out for Bay!

  16. Sorry to hear about this. I lost my pal a few years ago and I still miss him. All you can do now is take solace in knowing that they had a great life.

  17. They do break your heart when they go. As you say, only people who love dogs understand this.

  18. I have 3 greyhounds, they are our life. We have bought a field and fenced it for them, oh and we had to move to be close to "their field". They have cost me a few hundred thousand pounds this year....... we wouldn't have it any other way, they deserve it. The pain will subside but the memories won't.

  19. At least you know Bay had a wonderful owner and life.
And thats fantastic. She knows that.
After my dog died for a long time afterwards I often felt her near or saw her out of the corner of my eye apparently its common.

Sadly now days so many dogs are being dumped , and the staffy situation is horrendous lovely dogs ... wrong owners and people who don't have a clue breeding dogs or even keeping one churning them out, more and more of them.
I have so many friends now who now have taken on rescued staffies one was pityful no fur covered in mange... and did not even know what a house was. She is so loving .. you walk in and she like here I am me!me! me!
My other friends just likes to play and eat socks!!

  20. This is my fav dog but he doesn't belong to me and I have not seen him for a while as overseas :(

Fuzzi Muzzi ... he is a Curly Coated Retriever if I ever had the chance to own a dog or two and had the space I would opt for a curly coat :)
