Anna Soubry, one of the most vociferous Tory Remainers has just been on Channel 4 news saying she will be voting for the Article 50 bill. She scoffed at the idea that the referendum was advisory saying the previous PM had proposed the referendum on the understanding that the result would be enacted and Parliament had voted for the bill on that basis. She said she didn't agree with the result but the result stands and she is committed to acting on the will of the people. She rubbished Tim Farron who was interviewed at the same time and accused him of "dancing on the head of a pin". Not a fan of Ms Soubry but fair play to her for being principled. She is as zealous a Europhile as any of them but she's shown herself to be a Remainer and not a Remoaner. If she can grasp the new political reality there's no excuse for the rest of them.
The new political reality? Bust within ten years. I listened to an executive at Jaguar on our local news that other night saying he expected a tariff free arrangement and to be able to employ who he wanted when he wanted.
There won't be an EU in ten years and we will not be bust. Your frustration and resentment at having your retirement plans interrupted by the democratic process is not a basis for making economic predictions.
