  4. No it's not my German Shepard went the other way he was an alpha male who was afraid of nothing castration was recommended it did nothing
The dog had to be put down as I was advised that he would turn on me in time
He had to be muzzled around everything
Not from lack of caring and a good home it was just him

  5. Ooouch

  6. But I'm not talking about GSDS, it's about bullies and the bad press they get.

  7. No need to castrate the poor fella.
My male is not castrated, neither was my previous male.
Just educate him well and he will be fine.
Yes there have been problemes with aggresive bull terriers but most off the times that where dogs without pedigree that came out of a shop.
If you buy from a good breeder you are on the good way all ready.
My male is great with all the dogs, even if they bite him he goes away.
The female does not go with all the other dogs, but that is why they call them bitches i guess.
But if there is an incident it will always be the bull terrier his fault in the public there opinion.
You also have to have a thick skin yourself when you have a bull terrier because you will get alot off comments.
Not always that nice off comments.
For those who think they can't go along in a pack, see the picture.
That was on a bully walk this weekend that i went to.

From what breeder did you bullie come from.

  11. He has got a very good bloodline,he is KC registered and his full name is Steven's Seducer of Sorts,
The owner I am getting him from has had bullies for years and makes sure they are the best and stable they can be.
He's trained him really well so far......strict,but fair, and I will continue with that. Like you say, people can be very narrow-minded especially if they don't like the 'look' of a dog.
Remi will get the best of everything,he's had a great start in life due to a very responsible owner, and I mean to continue with that.....I'll train him the best I can....after all, he is a Bully LOL!!!
So you reckon no need for castration?

  12. Having second thought now tbh Finm, especially with what Henk has said.

  13. yip, tough choice. this is the first male we have had. and deffo the most chilled.

  14. I prefer not to castrate my dogs unless it is for medical reason.
You can do it on every age so i would wait,no need to do it that young.
See how it goes, and you can still do it later if you feel the need for it.
not every dog react the same on castration, some behave different and some stay just the same.
Bull terriers are real active the first two year.
But around 2 year they get alot calmer.

    Henk!!!

  16. I remember pissing someone off (imagine that) in mumsnet when I said kids are like dogs in that from birth, they look to us to teach them the rules and give them the skills to manage within society.

There are some breeds that need extra work because the breed itself is chosen for certain virtues and has genetic traits but again it comes down to the owner

If you do not understand that then you are probably the same person who gets on a busa, wacks the throttle open, then bitch it's the bikes fault you came off.

Some dogs do have issues, but with a good owner who has researched the breed and is confident enough to dominate the dog with good training, then there should be no reason why the dog and the owner should not have a good life together.

  19. Let him keep his nuts!

My Weimaraner calmed down quite a lot when he got to two years. He was never a humper or aggressive or chased bitch dogs, however the ex wife took him and the first thing she did was get his balls chopped, poor guy.

  20. I had to get my staffy done at about 6 years old coz he kept escaping and plowing the neighborhood bitches. He got locked up good few times and it cost me a fortune.
I got my ex to take him ( we had joint custody) coz I didn't want him blaming me when he woke up with out his junk. Tbh it didn't help much. The lil escape artist would bust out and wander but the neighbors didn't call the pound as he wasn't gettin jiggy anymore.
