After David D's bad luck, and me being a little concerned if these bikes have a limited shelf life, I was wondering what mileage has everyone on their bikes with no internal problems???? Mines is early 2011 with 6000+ clocks replaced under warranty Heated grips replaced under warranty
Registered 6th June 2010 - 14k miles to date Work done under warranty: Replaced warped front discs Rear brake - 3 new master cylinders and God knows how many bleedings Coolant change New dash Replaced corroded generator casing Dodgy fuelling - ECU update and fatducs fitted Other things that worry and annoy me: Faulty lhs switchgear - not yet replaced as working ok after it dried out after torrential rain in Italy last year Heated grips wearing out quick - fitted grip puppies False neutrals (plenty of them) Clutch slave cylinder appears to be on it's way out BUT....she hasn't let me down ever.....yet! (touch wood!)

No...sorry, didn't mean to be on a downer. I'll post the full diagnosis once I know it and set everyone at ease...hopefully. Up til now it has been faultless in running. Ok, yes, all the usual, but nothing that was more than a niggle. This seems a bit more serious, but it will get fixed. At least it is in warranty and I won't be getting a huge (maybe) bill. Just to be clear, the bike is brilliant and I still love it, even if it stopped in a hissy fit. Once it is back I will love riding it again. On the other side of the fence, I can quite imagine people thinking "will it happen to me?" ... that is the million dollar question!
May 2010 and 15,200 miles. Warranty fixes have been ECU upgrades (fuelling and Kill switch warning etc), replaced sump plug as mine was dripping, replacement DES controller (800?) and fluid change today. Grumbling front discs are in tolerance, so not replaced, rear brake fluid and pads changed at my cost, made "some" improvement, got bored waiting for anything positive from Ducati about early worn heated grips, so fitted Grip Puppies and not holding my breath over reported "cloudy" back light. I think I would give Ducati UK about 6 or 7/10 with regards to warranty as if it is marginal, they tend to go quiet and hope you go away?

Seems all ok now Fitted cricket bat grips to stop grips wearing out Try adjusting gear linkage to stop false neutrals
My 2005 Triumph Sprint ST 1050 had one factory recall for a rear suspension linkage a year after it was new,it has now got 36,000 miles on it, is home maintained, has had no faults or warranty claims, no breakdowns and today went into the Triumph dealer I bought it from from for valve clearances and two shims. Thats called reliability and as far as I'm concerned its just about run in. Pity modern bikes are not like that especially expensive red ones
LHS switchgear is being replaced under warranty, and I've already had the heated grips done....push them... Ducati I mean. My clutch is getting grabby again, despite being bled several times....the dealer reckons it is the clutch slave, so they will be replacing that too... I tell you, the extended warranty is turning out to be a bargain at the rate I'm going! ;-)
Registered October 2011 - 12000 miles - coolant recall. Thats it. Far less trouble than my previous three BMWs and far better dealer service. Manchester Ducati (Sale) removed a fastener that I had rounded, re-routed the breather pipes when I got it wrong, then emailed me a photo taken in their workshop a few days later so I could get it right in future. All done FOC with a smile. I plan to replace it with another Multi in 2014 - from Manchester!
