She who must be obeyed wants a new kitchen. Had a quote from Wren Kitchens (the owner used to own Hygena apparently, but sold it and moved on) and for 20 units, sink/taps, hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, extractor hood, double oven, laminated worktops and lights, they want £9 grand. On top of that is fitting (we know a fitter who we trust). It seems feckin' expensive to me.
I 'refreshed' mine a few years ago. If yr not shifting anything, the the base units can be re-used. I fitted new appliances, work-tops, sink and taps, cupboard/draw fronts, workout fecking lot less than £9 bagsa! Good luck!
We will be doing this later in the year and don't expect any change out of 12k even on a mid range mass produced product Hoping bathroom will be half that with all the work....
Just done ours - dresser off eBay and one run bespoke units - solid wood worktop - - built in dishwasher graded off eBay - copper sink - large separate fridge freezers - all for under £5k - 9 k seems cheap could easily spend that on an Aga alone [emoji4]
Ours was £17k about five years ago. But SWMBO wanted granite work tops, an induction hob, pyrolytic oven, boiling water tap and led lights in the fascias as some of the toys in it. That bumped the price up a bit at the time (they are much cheaper nowadays apparently)
Keller units are good if you can get them. We had some fitted 16 years ago now and they're still good. They come complete as well - no assembling flat-packs...
We've just done our £28k kitchen [emoji15]. SWMBO wanted a Harvey Jones kitchen and we've gone whole hog. Now it's in, it looks good but in all honesty I wouldn't spend that again. Paying that money you expect everything to be taken care of for you and you expect a certain attention to detail. We didn't get this and are in the middle of complaining to them. We've got the granite worktop, the island, the larder, the fridge surround etc. but they massively inflate their costs and it's not all solid oak. The sides and backs are laminated chip board, it just pretends to be solid. In the future I would just pay a chippy to do it all as it would probably be about £10-12k for the kitchen we have. Did ours about 4.5 years ago, all in was around 20 fitted including appliances, corian tops and the some custom building in the utility room to house the washer/dryer and wine cabinets. The patio at the house where I grew up was paved with gravestones. My old man bought them off a church that was clearing an old graveyard, they were going to be broken up but he intervened, made a contribution to the church and did a few trips with Landrover and trailer the same day. He was going to lay them face down but decided to lay the interesting ones face up instead. I managed to convince a few visiting friends that we had bodies buried underneath.
If the OP is any good at DIY, plan the kitchen accurately, then go to Magnet Trade and buy your units from them.....the carcasses are sturdy and ready made........bloody sight lower cost than getting a specialist company in. You can't see all of it in the photo, but you get the idea.
Around these parts the thing to have is Leeks fitted kitchen/bathrooms. My brother's ferocious wife made him buy one for her, come fitting day there's a knock on the door and it's a local chippy/subby doing the work...Shock and fecking horror! IMHO one needs to be a bit clever with this sorta thing, had my 'family' bathroom done last year, I gutted the room myself, procured all the parts inc' tiles and paid a local fitter to do the lot. Total cost < £2.5k. Helps if you're tight git and you don't have a ferocious wife of course
I'm always interested in recommendations for kitchen suppliers as we will be doing ours in the next couple of years all being well... The one I have heard time and time again without ever hearing a bad review is DIY kitchens, if you have a design and written quote from Wren then it may be worth heading to there website. Most people I know and have heard of using them have been very satisfied with the end product, also seems most head to AO.com for their appliances too if that helps
