It isn't bullshit. It isn't necessarily a the only outcome either but its certainly highly probable. Nothing in the EU is ever a shoo-in. Everything - well, nearly everything - has to be approved by 28 different nations with widely varying priorities. Many are dead against a secessionist region of an existing, or even former, member state ever being accepted for membership. Either way, Scotland would still have to follow due process and yes, there is a queue. A Scottish membership bid may well be successful but even the application went through completely unopposed, which is highly unlikely, it is inconceivable that Scotland could walk seamlessly out of the UK and into the EU like changing busses at a station. It would still take several years for full membership to be conferred, very possibly a decade or more. In the meantime Scotland will be neither in the UK nor in the EU. It will not be able to use the Euro and it will not have Sterling as its national currency. It would either have to use Sterling as a trading currency but have no say over monetary policy or it would have to set up an entirely new currency of its own while its EU membership is being processed. How long a fledgling country could survive adrift in the shark-infested waters of the international currency markets in this incredibly precarious position is anyone's guess but it would not be a pleasant time. Of course you can simply dismiss this as more bullshit and I'm sure you will. The Nationalists did in 2014 and that is why they lost the referendum. There is no sign that they have come any closer to finding a credible solution to this problem. Bombast, calling people liars and claiming special privilege from either the UK or the EU which is not on offer won't wash in the real world of international politics and money markets. And that being so, it won't wash with Scots either. It didn't last time.
