ducati 848 i bought one this week, i know they use a Peugeot cars timing belt, but in the service book it says it had a timing belt done at 3500miles, am i going to have to get it done that frequently? and if its a cars timing belt, surely it lasts more like 20k miles? wait? i can legally ride this 848evo on the road? [emoji33]

It's age as much as millage. More often age. Where are you getting Peugeot part number matches Ducati part number from?
Ducati part number 737.4.025.1A Our part number TB1198 Belts are different construction / materials for Ducati's due to harsher environment - higher revs / tighter turns etc

a mechanic told me he rung the part supplier and read the code on the side, and it came up as a cars timing belt.... [emoji23][emoji23]

No. It's something like every 2 years or 12k mls. Check the service book. Most go 3 years quite happily though.

if 3k miles is what they get to me says they can brake at any moment [emoji30] guess ill follow suit and get it done 3-5k later. or i guess 2years at most after last belt?
If you bike has car belts fitted change them now! There are plenty of Ducati Specialists if you can't fit them yourself
it would not be out of the ordinary for high power bikes to use car parts, even if i may not like having anything Peugeot related to my new wonderful bike.
Every two years dude, they DO break... more so if the bike is not used too often as they dry and become brittle (from my limited understanding).. most dealers do this for a reasonable amount.. although if you have a Pani then you don't have this problem
