So after a very bad experience of buying a second hand Termi exhaust (thanks for that Ducati Wolverhampton) I am now back to square one. Ive got 3 options in mind; 1 - termi system (although very common) 2 - carbon front exit termi system 3 - SC project system (something totally different) Has anyone got either of the latter two installed on their 899? Id be keen to hear your thoughts? Many people dont like the SC project look with the large bend and the different lines but I actually really like it. Its apparently very loud but to be honest thats the way I want it. The carbon termi looks great although its a shame they dont come with an UP map. I'm not sure if I could buy this seperately? Any help would be appreciated.
Personally I think the SC project is too ugly and too loud (but each to their own). You mention up map for the carbon Termi, but I would expect you need some sort of a map with the SC? In which case, with either I'd go with a custom map or Rapidbike setup. Personally, because it looks right, sounds right, and there are a few decent priced second hand ones about, I'd go with second hand standard Termis...
Yes, I spoke with a tuning specialist earlier today and would need custom mapping done if I went down the SC project or carbon termi route. I was sold a termi system that was apparently 'very good condition' by Ducati Wolverhampton. What i recieved was far from the truth and will be kindly returned on Monday! Embarrassing from a Ducati dealership. The experience has put me off buying second hand system to be honest. Ive been keeping my eye on ebay recently and very little have came up for sale.
There is very little online at the moment. Now people have started thinking about going out on their bikes again, expect the second hand market to pick up again (I'm saving some DP carbon stuff myself because I know I'll get more in a month than I will now...) I wouldn't let one bad experience put you off, and you are completely covered by eBay if someone describes anything being in perfect condition, and it is not.
Apparently this has only done 2500 miles... i'll let you make your own judgement. The cans have clearly took a few hits and based on the air filter, a local speacialist believes its done closer to the 10,000 mile mark. If Ducati Wolverhampton put a bit of effort in cleaning the system, they could have got it in a half respectable condition but the owner wasnt even interested in discussing my complaint and would rather email me requesting that it is returned so someone else can buy it.
Lesson learned then........never use Wolverhampton. Nobody else on here does because of exactly the same kind of experiences.
Don't be put off by second hand parts,it's just unfortunate you had bad luck with DW,i have sold and purchased loads of parts off this very Forum, keep your eyes on the for sale section, exhausts come up quite regularly.
Ive already logged a complaint to Ducati head office but all the more help would be great. This is latest in a string of emails that the owner sent yesterday (after refusing to call me to discuss the complaint) Its completely embarrassing.
Sold me my 899 (new) delivered it with only enough fuel for exactly 1 mile, it's 3 to the nearest petrol station, suffice to say I was not best pleased having to leave a 1 day old bike in the middle of rural Shropshire while I walked home!!
Why would they advertise it on Ebay and then say they are selling on someone's behalf? The are either acting as an agent and profiting or lying surely?
