Hi I'm new to Ducati having just bought a hypermotard 796.the bike needs a new chain and possibly sprockets.as the bike has spent most of its life out doors under a cover the chain is rusted to hell and the bike needs a good deep clean,I gave it a quick jet wash today and all plastics are gleaming.the bike is a 2010 model with 5k miles would you recommend a service too.
Subjective this is....everyone will give their own opinion - but i would say its down to how much you want to spend...i would personally go for a gold did chain and a supersprox rear sprocket....but thats me though...

Mines one tooth up on the front from stock (the previous owner said it just wheelied everywhere) personally i couldnt see a problem with that but ive left it as is til i change them...i may leave it as it is as it wheelies off the throttle in 1st 2nd and 3rd anyway...moreso since the dyno work sorted out the fueling.... KTM forum - yep im on there but not as much as the 525 is sorned...i did look at selling it but only got offered peanuts for it so it sits in the garage gathering dust for the moment....hopefully this year my insurance should drop a little bit so ill be able to reinsure it...
@comfysofa have you a SuperSprox rear sprocket on the Hyper?? Where did you get it? Or what was the part number - I had one on my KTM and loved it - but when i treid to get one for the Hyper it appeared they didn't have one to suit - or i may be just thick! I have a lovely Ducati Performance bronze alloy sprocket - but I'm afraid it may be as much use as a chocolate fire guard - or possibly last about as long! I liked the two ply SuperSprox tho! :hearteyes:
I'm struggling to find a supersprox for my 939, I do have a Ducati performance plastic sprocket carrier with two part out ring but it says not to be used with abs so I'm in two minds

Bugger - thought u would know! Yes they do exist on the US Sprox website and can't find them listed for a Hyper in U.K. sellers. Ducati ones say 916 or 1098 all look the same on eBay - but will they all have same diameter etc. Oh well I'll maybe try the chocolate one first! Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ah.. OK... There's a supersprox kit with hub at riders in Bristol... I think the sprocket is 85 quid and the hub is 150 (gold anodised).... I really want it myself but skint at the moment as I've just bought a set of marchesinis for my other bike! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
