1200 Or 1100 Multi

  1. Once again new used bike fever hits as prices go south quicker than a whore's whatsits. I'm so used to the 1000/1100 Multis had 2 for the last 10 years racking up many fine touring trips. I'm reluctant to go the 1200 route, but once ridden that may be it. One for sale around these parts looks the goods, I need panniers though. Anyone in my plight/ dilemma?

  2. Are you choosing based on touring ability or are you working your way through a list of the ugliest Ducatis ever made ? If so can I suggest the Indiana as an alternative ?

I had a 1000 multi and can vouch for it being a great bike to ride. Not ridden a 1200 but I imagine it would be a totally different experience.

  3. You need to ride the 1200 before coming to an informed opinion. Depending on how you ride, where you ride and who you ride with may affect the choice between the base 1200 and the s with electronic suspension which does make a huge difference. I ride a 1200sTouring and although I also have a 1098 and a 748, the Multistrada is my forever bike. Andy

  4. I had the 1000 multistrada and racked up 24,000 miles in 4 years, great bike.....the 1200 is a COMPLETELY different animal! You will either love it or wonder what the hell you did as it is not like the old multi....unless you put it in 100hp urban mode....even then it's fast. I love my 1200 though...it's an amazing animal !

  5. No idea but welcome Dave

  6. Oh, I seem to have clocked up some of the ugliest, the 600TL Pantah, Paso 750 and the parallel twin 500 GTV. So I'm no stranger to the weird Ducs.
Yes i have to take one for a ride, thanks Andy, then buy one if I like. I do a big trip most years, and lots of too much suburban work. Time for more trips. Thanks for all your advice.

  7. I have owned the 1000 and 2x1200, entirely different

1000 - like a heavy super Moto and didn't find too comfy over a long distance, brakes we crap
1200 twin spark - more comfy, loads more power and torque good fun
1200 dvt - more sanitised, as comfy as previous and (both skyhook) easier to ride faster
    Hth :upyeah:
