British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. To be fair, duke has a lot of shit coming out, it may take a few years? Seems only fair to give him a fair crack of the whip

  2. Or just maybe me and finm will be proved right.

Everything on this thread is opinion at the moment as we have not yet left the EU ( and maybe we won't :grinning:) and no one knows whether it will be a success or a catastrophic failure as not a word of negotiation has yet been spoken.

  3. see what happens when you mention the unmentionable jv? :Hilarious:. possibly only a few posts away from
"f..k sake, not scotland again". dorks. :smileys:
anyhoo, here's another. (another example of why some dont know jack and are hell bent on exposing it)

  4. you know noob, i know jack about the comings and goings of essex, mostly because i aint really interested, hence why i don't comment on it. but if yer hell bent on arguing and contradicting everything that gets posted on the subject of Scottish politics, using the express and suchlike as references i am gonna do you a wee favor by posting a link to the wonderful Peter Bells page, politics scotland. i dont read the dailys anymore, but yer man tends to scoop the more relevant stuff, and often gives his own take on it. some good brexit related stuff in there today, along with the more minor parochial stuff. also a funny wee example of the pish we have to endure from S.Con at FMQ's. (which is also brexit related). the poor lad gets roasted by the sturginator. :Hilarious::smileys:

  5. fin might have a little bit of a chance of some truth as long as he lays off the wings over sumerset mantra and stop driving around with I love Nicola bumper stickers but you duke, you are like pluto, some say a wrong un and others may say it's just pluto, whadda ya gunna do?

Some quite informed opinion but yes opinion

Very unlikely, almost 99% it will happen but lets humour you as it's friday

It will never be a 100% success as you can never please a 100% of the people 100% of the time but I do feel we will get most, but not all of what we wanted and all will be okay.

Although if it does work a treat like most feel it will and Trump works out too, I look forward to your replies then which always remind me that no matter how bad you think your life is, there is always someone worse off

  6. Thank you kindly fin. I don't trust the express at all but it entertains me how often it seems to stir up our north of the border chums, I'm reading that link, thank you

two things jumped out straight away

In regards to the fish catches, the ones that will get bigger under brexit, this part made me chuckle

‘The Scottish fisheries minister is to take steps to require Scottish pelagic vessels to land more of their catch in Scotland rather than abroad.

So the Scottish government is already on a collision course with the eu council about fish quotas and refuses to land them at foreign ports. Will that be in your eu application? You know you will have to do as your told right?

secondly. the German map company showing scotland as theirs, ahem Scotlands. Word to the wise, germans have a real big issue with maps and other countries :tearsofjoy:

    Media are funny aren't they

  7. Yes, but you have a track record here. You predicted armageddon shortly after the referendum result, which has proved unfounded. When questioned on it, you ignore the question and continue to talk about your opinion of the future.

I can confidently predict your future behaviour based on your past behaviour.

  8. As i say we have not left the EU yet and currently enjoy all its benefits and some unseen additional ones for some folk (though not all) as a result of the vote i.e. they can sell more stuff cheaper abroad but we are going to see the downside of that over the coming months with rising inflation as the cost of imports rises.

  9. To be fair duke, if judgement by the all mighty was upon us and an asteroid was about to hit the earth and wipe us all out, you could guaranty you would be standing there saying, "if you think this is bad....

As to import cost rising, it already has started with the lowering and in my mind proper place the pound should be at the moment. The plus side ( look it up in a book, you know you want too) is that we are selling British goods at record amounts which is cancelling out most drops in the pound for most overseas selling companies.

We are a country that has more people dying from obesity than starvation so an address on our excess is no bad thing, dunno might even mean some companies might start up to build some items that we used to build, but build them for ourselves? employment and self sufficiency may not be a bad thing?

  10. Ok, I'll pick one item. You were almost drunken with glee when the £ lost value in the wake of the Brexit vote. Citing it as proof of doom.

Now the dust has settled, what is your opinion of the impact of this now? Not the future, now?

  11. A couple of doozies posted 2 days after the referendum. How did this turn out then? You really should give up on the predicion lark. Mystic Meg, you are not. :p

  12. At the moment it works for exporters and against importers. It also makes it more expensive for us to go abroad either for business or pleasure. We haven't yet seen the impact on imports as most will have made provision for such an event in the short term. All suppliers who import are talking of prices rises now though.

  13. Well since neither have happened yet I'm not sure what your point is. Other than to be talking your usual provocative bollocks.
