Hi Chaps I bought this as part of a collection last year partly dissembled..... I put it back together with re-zinc Plated bolts & screws etc The bike is in good order & rides nice it has new Tyres & tubes genuine "Raliegh redline tyres" New union pedals etc New stainless mudguards from the States. The saddle is probably the best I've seen for a 44 year old bike. I know it's not for the purists! But its still a lovely bike Turns heads everywhere I'm asking £695 It would cost more than that to get to this standard. The Frame would cost £400 alone to Chrome. Any questions please ask ..... By the way I don't like Wotsits [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Awesome. I've seen some pictures of 1199R's, 1098R's and 998R's on here this week. This trumps them all. A blast from my past.
I remember leaving my sons "Jubilee Edition" silver framed Chopper with mag wheels in a tea chest in the loft when we moved back at the end of the 70's. Wonder what that is worth now?
That's a lovely example but the price is a bit top heavy given the chopper market has gone very quiet. Have you tried places like retro bike Retrobike Forum Index | Retrobike
Have you seen what they are selling for on eBay ? I've turned down £275 for the frame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Absolutely, I've seen the silly prices sellers have asked and the bike continues to never be sold and the actual bikes that sold through the completed sales option I've seen a shop fresh mk2 sell for £800 but others sell for £200. I've also seen sellers spend more than it was worth then tried to recoup their costs through the price no one else would pay so they suffer the dissapointment of an overspend Anyway, you have a price in mind and rightly are asking that for it and I'm sure you will sell it at some point to a buyer who is prepared to pay what they want for it. I agree & disagree in equal measure. I own 9 choppers in total, Including a rare Mk1 Pumkin orange crossover. If you look at completed items on fleabay you'll see quite a few sold bikes that need restoring from £300 to £400 + So this chrome bike is around the money. Adam Howell at Acf Howells in Walsall W-mids Does my chrome & is the best in the business. He is the only Jaguar approved Chromer in the industry. The 2 big Players in the Chopper world are doing really well. Paul at "Chopper central" Has out standing orders for restored Mk 2's at £1800 each [emoji15] And Paul Williams is also making a mint. But I do agree peeps are paying far too much for piles of junk ! But nothing new people have been doing the same with motorbikes & cars for years. I really wish I'd bought up all of the cheap 5 turbos & 1.9 Gti's That were round a couple of years ago [emoji12][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Likewise, a real wheelie machine but the handlebars used to 'swivel' in the clamp and I broke one of the frame rails (the 'swingarm' tube) through general abuse.
Did they do chrome ? I think they fetch most money original good condition. Restoring it wont make it worth double. I broke my frame 3 times Was not tough enough. We put normal bars and far rims on racers 15 years before the USA claimed to have invented the mountain bike!
winner by knockout in the third round, farmster! (...live action continues in the mobile phone thread with a heated debate about the origin of some graphs)
