hi i put new battery in cheap as it was from dealer free. i have seen videos of people puting in fatter bigger battery can you advice please what to get i have around 90 quid to spend . bike hardly turns over with standard battery size and numbers of upgrades please if you can put better battery in them
Get some Exact Fit starter cables from @Exige and fit them, in place of the feeble standard cables. You may find the improvement in starting is enough that you can forget about having a bigger battery.
ok ive upgraded to a bosh ytx 12bs with 90 amp cold start am hoping this does the trick anyone ealse tried these batterys there fatter so need to remove the 2 back plugs on battery case is this correct
Should have got a Yuasa AGM - mine pushes out 120 cca Get the cables from Exige - they will transform the bike
@Exige 90 cca is a bit weak for these engines. The Yuasa AGM gives 30% more oomph to turn the engine over - that's a lot.
It was a exide smaller battery thats in just now that battery ive ordered is the same as a black bird so should have plenty power
The above two posts are the advice which could well have saved you the expense of purchasing a new battery... It is well documented throughout this forum that the battery cable's are inadequate/underrated which I would put a wager on being the root cause of your starting issue's... @Exige is the man to speak to Re: purchasing cable's and there is also a thread I have included a link to below on this. You can get all of the information you require to purchase in the thread. Blackbirds have 4 small pistons, not 2 great big ones... The 'power' is in the cca rating - 90 v. 120
Lithium battery - lighter and better cranking amps...? along with the starter cables of course - thats a given...
Sorry, apologies, got it wrong - it's 210 for my battery... Most major motorbike manufacturers choose Yuasa - so why don't you? The Yuasa YT12B-BS is a long lasting maintenance free motorcycle battery that requires nothing more than occasional charging - ideal if you're more interested in riding your bike. Brand: Yuasa Voltage: 12V Capacity: 10AhAmpHour or Ah measures the capacity of a battery. In simple terms, the higher the Ah the more energy the battery can store. If you imagine a bucket of water, the bigger the bucket, the more water it can store. For example. A 20Ah battery can normally deliver 1 Amp for 20 hours or 2 Amps for 10 hours. At extremes the performance usually drops, for example it may not deliver 20 Amps for one hour. 1Ah = 1000mAh CCA (EN): 210ACCA or Cold Cranking Amps, measures the starting performance of the battery. In simple terms, the higher the CCA the easier it will start the engine. There are several standards. DIN German Industrial Standard at -18°C EN European Standard EN50342.1 at -18°C SAE American Standard at -18°C Weight: 4.1Kg Installation: Technical: Datasheet: MSDS: Length: 150mm Width: 69mm Height: 130mm Barcode: 4016987112007
