Evening Matt, thanks for the comment pal. Really pleased with the way it looks thanks. How's your Panigale R coming on? Rear sets took me just over an hour to fit. There were a couple of awkward Allen key bolts on the linkages to get to, but as long as you have the right tools you should be ok. Mainly all Allen key bolts, 4, 5 and 6 mm. I'd recommend getting some extra long Allen keys with the ball point ends. The linkage on the gear change side was the biggest pain In the arse. I had to undo the old rear sets completely then managed to get enough room by moving pushing them up as far as they went to undo the stupid Allen key bolt connecting the gear change linkage to the pedal. There's not a lot of room. To be honest I didn't take any fairings etc off or anything else and did them all in situe. Only other problem I had was the rear brake light switch snapped. Really pleased with them though bud! Loads better than the standard sets. If you go for them (which I would) let me know if for whatever reason you get stuck and I will try my best to help....
I don't, no. It went to some chap on eBay for much lower than I was hoping to get for it. Thanks for the fitting tips for the rear sets. I'm still undecided, but I think the 1199R deserves some decent rear sets. I was looking at the CNC racing and Ducati Performance ones, but I don't think I can justify to myself spending the best part of £800 on some. Have you ridden your bike yet, how are they? The Ducabike ones I had on the 899 reduced the gear lever travel quite significantly meaning each gear change took quite a lot of effort, which you would expect from a racing product. Are the Rizoma's the same?
Sh*t I obviously missed out there as I'm now on the look out for a new rear shock...would of been ideal, just dordelled too much obviously. Yes I've ridden the bike briefly since fitting them and thought it was a massive improvement. The gear changes felt more solid and smooth. I'm not just saying it because they're on my bike but they are great value for money and I'm really pleased with them...there's also a lot of adjustment on them too. I think I've pretty much nailed the setup now for my foot size and style of riding. They're pretty simple to adjust and I've got to add they're really nicely finished, solid and well made. The brake linkage side has the spring built into the pedal so you remove the one off of the cylinder so it is just the rod. They feel really nice though-massive improvement and pleased I purchased them... I ideally wanted the dp ones and also looked at the cnc ones but I was the same as you and couldn't contemplate spending nearly a grand on them.
Out of interest Matt how much did you get for it? If you don't mind me asking. Mine was £210 back in September which I thought was a bargain
The Dp rearsets are starting to appear for sale second hand now, I picked up my set for 450 euros. But still a pain to fit....
That sounds really cheap miike!! And then rearsets sound like a awesome buy too!!! I'm obviously looking in the wrong places!! :-/
That was a very good price. Mine sold for £330 which I thought was a little low, but perhaps I ended up doing ok.
