OK so I've been off road bikes for a while and I've been enjoying my 450 enduro bike a lot. I've never been to the TT and have had some tickets come out way so I'm going on the 31St. Need a bike, but what bike! I'm thinking hyper strata, multi or a 899 pani. Got some money ( which helps) to buy a bike but I really don't know what I want.
Welcome - go and bounce on some, see which you fit - then buy with your heart not your head - you will know
how far do you need to go to get there? what do you want to do when you get there? what bike to you actually want that you need a pretext to buy...? (we can help...), how old are your knees? I used to go every year to the manx on my 888. Leave work in London on Friday, go home, load the bike and head up to Heysham for the overnight boat, massive breakfast in Douglas the next morning. Does anybody have the vid of the RC211V being knocked over in a car park?
Bought my first 1199 Panigale and rode it to the TT the next morning. Couple of days blasting it around the mountain course on practice week was amazing.
You'll enjoy it whatever you ride, i'll be 65 this year and will be going on my 748 loaded up with camping gear for a week. Steve
What ever you get, when you get to the TT the place will be full of Ducatis looking great and getting thrashed. If you are into the brand and don't turn up on one when you had the chance, you'll regret it. Just my two cents.
Piece of piss to tour/do long miles on the 899 if that's a concern. It even has some handy holes on the tail unit for your bungee straps lol. Sling a bag on the back, 10 seconds later you're off. Ive done 400+ miles in a day on mine with luggage and apart from the usual aching arse which you'd expect on most bikes, it was pretty comfortable. I'm 6ft.
We'll I think we're sending our bags on ahead so it'll only be a rucksack. There growing on me I must admit.
