I use these Automotive : Mechanix Wear (the all purpose ones) for general dismantling. I have boxes of the latex rubber ones for messy jobs. I use Manista as the hand cleanser Comma :: Products Guide :: Manista Natural Hand Cleanser with Polychips
I'm not a fan of wearing any gloves, but I have to at work and find these more tolerable than some of the others. I don't think I'd work on the bike with them tho.
16oz sparring gloves for me. or so it seems with my ham fisted attempts at mechanical work these days. pete
I usually don't work in gloves as I like to have the dexterity, but there are times when I don't have the time to scrub my hands to bits for a ten minute job. Which is when gloves come in handy. Latex type is a must if you are working with oil as otherwise any glove will be ruined immediately, but otherwise, for a cloth glove - I found them all too heavy. Until I found a pair of these - Gloves :: Bike :: Attack Glove :: Fox Europe These are for MTB, but are like tissue paper they are so thin and are stretch fit tight. Yet as they are for MTB riding, they are pretty robust and also have the grip on the fingers for tactile work. They are brilliant. (I obviously ride MTB in thicker gloves than these as these ones would last about two seconds in a crash!). Not cheap though at about 25 quid a pair, but mine are several seasons old and show no signs of wear yet.
After spannering for 35 years without gloves I don't think I'm ever going to start wearing them. I just can't work the same with them (tried a few times). Having said that my hands are as rough as a badgers arse.
I use these: Tegera Pro 9105 Work Gloves - TEGERA | Clas Ohlson They're washable and have better 'feel' than most. Not too warm, but warm enough on cold days.
Hey - it's just a saying and I didn't make it up. If I get a call from the RSPCA for this I know who to blame.
