I've owned lots of different Ducatis over the years, classics, specials, and Superbikes. But my favorite is the humble Pantah, my first Ducati. My little old 500 Pantah took me to work, touring Europe, track days, crashes, it got enlarged to 650cc, written off, rebuilt, crashed again, and got me from Paul Ricard to Calais in less than 8 hours. I loved that bike and more than any other I've owned wish I still had it, but it made way for a 750 F1 in the late 90's. So what's yours and why?
Those Alpinestar leathers are long gone! I'm not sure why I bought them, but it was the arly 90's! The helmet is on a shelf in my workshop with a load of other old Arai's
I reckon I had more fun on my 851 than any of the others, although I loved them all bar the 749 (underpowered and strangely untrustworthy front end - never understood why). It was probably down to the time of life I had it (30 t0 35). Compared to the 916 it was very comfortable, and you didn't see many Ducati riders in the very early 90s, and even fewer 851 riders, so it felt particularly special to ride and own.
I had a bevel 900ss for a couple of years in 1980something and every journey on that was event, from tickling the carbs to kicking it started to feeling your kidneys taking a bashing over bumpy roads. I`m not saying I`d want to have to do that every time I go for a ride now but it was a fantastic bike to own as long as it wasnt your only bike. I still have my Pantah and that makes me smile every time, I even forgive it when it wont restart after filling up at the petrol station. I just think, its Italian and 30 years old, what do you expect?
No question, my '98 916SPS.... ...that's why out of the 9 Ducati that I've owned over the past 20 years it's the one that I still have. It's got the iconic looks, handles great and at 132 rwbhp is plenty powerful enough for me. But I guess it's the way that it delivers that power that makes it such a great bike and my keeper
My lottery Doocat garage - My carby SS, always wanted one, a very capable real-world roadbike. A black/gold bevel 900SS - coz I'm liking the older bikes & nostalgia, plus it would keep me busy  A Desmosedici - and why the fk not? A road-legal GP bike?? Dingdong! A Multi - for touring & pillion riding - with a normal ignition retrofitted...
My favourite Ducati is one I've never ridden or owned, but it just looks great. 916 SP3 1996 - Had the chance to buy one a couple of years ago and ended up deciding not to. Big mistake!
Good question, but this a thread for people who've owned the Dukes that mean the most to them, a bit of an old farts trip down memory lane if you like!
1994 900ss. Bought it at just under a year old with around 5000 on the clock, done about 64,000 now. 97 to 2004, lived 7 years alongside my 916 Bip and spent a few unloved years in the corner of the shed as I played with the better looking one. 2005 to present, lives alongside another better looking one - my 1998 916SPS. But if it ever comes down to only having 1 bike, the 900 will still be there.
My 750F1 has a special place in my heart, as it was the bike I always wanted from a young teenager. It got me into bikes in the first place and though I couldn't afford one I knew i'd have one one day. The reality is though my '94 900SS really makes me grin more riding it. It is just an awesome all round sportster.
996S 2001. Sooooo easy to ride fast and looks fantastic. Sold it to a mate when I emigrated. That said, a streetfighter 1098S is the best road ducati I've ever ridden. Mega engine and as I am getting older the riding position really suits me. Oooooh my back
Got to be my tuned 996SPS. Its a bit vicious. Got a soft spot for my bevel, only form of transport for 3 years.
of course it must be the 999 i worked quit a bit on... but i also still feel the pain to see the 94 916SP ride off with her new owner back in 97.. a 851SP3 has a special place as it was the bike that put me on ducati for ever since ( never owned a non ducati roadbike) And driving around Scotland this summer, The multi must be the best bike i ve ever ridden... the rumble of a monster in the distance makes me smile.. all things considered , frankly, there is no Ducati the does not make me tick...
