Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by cookster, Mar 25, 2017.

  1. well guys i took the gsxr 1000 k2 out today for a blast, did 140 miles and im well impressed, it handles better than my 1198 i reckon (tuned suspension i know) it felt so planted in the corners and wasnt hard to change direction in the twisties at all, plus i did 140 miles on one tank of fuel, ok it hasnt got the wow factor of the ducati but still a great all rounder bike if you ask me and its bloody quick . just thought id share :upyeah:

  5. That was funny. For you :)

  6. @TT600 its actually for sale on here mate ;)

but i must admit if i had to have only one bike think it could be another gixxer,(but il never have just one bike and definatly always have a duc in the garage)

  7. This is a K2...different league ;)

  8. @bradders in a good or bad way? i had a k7 750 and that was a cracking bike also.

  9. K5 - still touted as one of the best bikes ever made. Real 170 HOP (who needs more?!) comfy, great chassis, huge torque.

K2 was a nice small evolution from the (at the time) game changing K1 :upyeah:

  10. I had a K5 600 and it was lovely.

  11. Got to agree with @bradders I love my K5, for me it's the perfect bike, as it it can do EVERYTHING well... I use mine for commuting and trackdays and it's brilliant... despite its gobs of torque and flighty nature at times it's an easy bike to ride... and it makes plebs like me look faster than they are :)

  12. out of interest @cookster what have you done suspension wise with yours??

  13. @frazzle its got ohlins piston kit and springs in the forks, nitron r3 rear shock and renewed all the needle bearings all set for my weigh and it works amzing. I changed the rear tyre to a 55 profile as well.

  14. Nice, I've not really thought about doing anything with mine, probably as I use it more or less daily for commuting, if I start doing more than 3 or 4 trackdays a year on it I might consider it... costly no?

  15. Gixxers are fabulous bikes.
Best handling bike I have is the Aprilia Rs250..blimey this thing is quick in turns 132kg.
Best power and power delivery especially on the track 2015 R1 (see avatar picture)
If I was to chose only one bike for the rest of my life it would be the k8 750 gsxr I had in orange and black.
Unfortunately I sold mine 4 years ago.

  16. yeah thats why i bought this one to do track days on, but me being me couldnt leave it alone and its turned out to be a cracking bike, thought it need a new steering damper as the standard one is pants as i found out hooning down the tewksbury road and it had a bit of a tank slap. :screamcat::pileofpoop:

  17. The angry Italian has a K5 road bike and a K6 trackbike, and had a k1 600 before that. I'm always impressed by how good they are. My S1000RR is obviously a very direct development of the K5 with the engine pumped full of steroids. I'm interested to see if the new GSXR makes the old one, plus the BMW, feel old school as I already feel it when going from the Panigale to the BMW.

Michael Neeves from MCN was doing Thundersport with us at the weekend and chatting over dinner in the pub and he was talking about their latest big 1000cc group test that is coming out in the next issue I believe. He said the 1299 Panigale is the benchmark for all liter bikes but it's cheating since it's 1300cc and > £20,000, but the new GSXR posted the best 1/4 mile time they have ever measured at MCN so it must be handy!

  20. I had a rubbish start and thought to myself I would try and push to my original start position and then see how it unfolded. Those boys are sooo fast and I high sided on the second lap coming out of McCleans! Got the bike fixed with the help of my hero mate about ten minutes before the afternoon race but it was washing out the front on the fast corners so I couldn't push and came in second to last. The second days grid positions were based on the saturdays results so I was starting from the back of the grid. Went really well all the same and I'm proper happy with it. 25th of 40 in 600cc and 5th in freshmans class. Once I get some video processed I'll stick some up. Amazing experience, proper gladiator style. I hit someone on the last corner after going up the inside and he tried to cut past again. Sprinted for the finish line together and I was ahead :) 2017-03-27 17_17_45-GOPR8495.MP4 - VLC media player.png 2017-03-27 17_25_12-GP018495.MP4 - VLC media player.png 2017-03-27 17_25_44-GP018495.MP4 - VLC media player.png 2017-03-27 17_26_48-GP018495.MP4 - VLC media player.png 2017-03-27 17_31_00-GP018495.MP4 - VLC media player.png
