I recently bought an 899, like you wanted the 1199 purely for the single sided swing arm. My only regret about the 899 is not buying it sooner, I live with a conventional rear end as the bike is still a fine Italian masterpiece, like @El Toro says...you can't see it when you are on it. The 899 is more than enough for the road, linear power band, sticks to the road like shit to a blanket, both the 899 and 1199 will take you from zero to instant ban in 3 seconds. Give it 'Billy big bollocks' on the 1199 and it'll flick you in to next week....but some might be in to that. Good luck with the hunt
i have had many 600s and have always liked the panigales but always thought 15k on a bike for minimal use was a ludicrous amount to spend as my 13 plate r6 has only done 1800 miles and iv owned it since 2014. but my circumstances have changed and the r6 will go as a part x , im 32 now and i drive a van all over the uk as a mobile fire and security engineer averaging 55k a year in the van, my current van is a 2014 and its on 1017k miles. i dont drive a car or van the weekend as im eitrhr drinking or working so why not buy the best bike i can afford and be the happiest guy in birmingham. thats my thoughts anyway ,i dont care if people say its wasted on me as everytime i pull away from the lights on my new duc that smile will never fade love the enthusiasm on this site for this bike it truly is a work of art
what mileage and year would you guys recommend? as i dont know what service intervals to look for and what should be done on each. i will post links to bikes im thinking of buying in the coming days for your expert opinion
None of the 899's are 'that old' really. The Desmo service is due at 15k if I remember correctly. So ideally you won't want to be buying one that needs that service because it's a small fortune.
the mileage i will be doing is minimal with the uk weather but it will be the centre piece in my kitchen for the other 11 months of the year so i can drink malt wiskey whilst sitting on it so i wouldnt mind looking at a higher mileage bike as it would all even itself out after a few years. the highest id probably go is 7-8 k with full history,, is that reasonable for a 2012-13 bike ?
Yep seems reasonable I'd always buy on condition over mileage myself. I'm a firm believer that the bike sitting around all the time or doing small mileages isn't good for them.
2013 13 DUCATI PANIGALE 1199 ABS | eBay Ducati 1199 PANIGALE S ABS 2013 | eBay 2015 15 DUCATI 1299 PANIGALE ABS 4500 MILES ONE OWNER REGAL SUPERBIKES | eBay 2012 62 DUCATI 1199 PANIGALE ABS 5000 MILES REGAL SUPERBIKES | eBay Ducati 1299 Panigale | eBay just a few iv seen all diferent mileage and years any suggestions?
Technically speaking, the 1299 is the best bike, I currently own one. I'd still say the 899 is the best road bike though (used to own one) still a firm believer. Maybe ride some and see what's what?
i agree my r6 is a waste just sitting there its still showroom with original tyres etc but id feel a lot better buying a low mileage bike as the price difference is minimal for higher mileage bikes, but i have the duc bug and my r6 seems like looking at a school bus compared to the panigale
Money no object superleggera or an R for me. I rode both the S and the base back to back. You'd be hard pushed to notice any difference. Even the mags have often said they'd not bother with the S. But horses for courses
I've had a Ducati for the last 30 years (several different ones). I am a dyed-in-the-wool Ducati fan. But if I was buying a new bike tomorrow? There is a strong chance it would be an MV F3 800. Why? I road it back to back with the 899 a couple of years ago for a short squirt. I preferred it - better brakes and frankly, more interesting engine. And it looks better. Yes, I know this is heresy but that's the way it is. I would advise the OP to definitely try one. And it has a single-sided swingarm... The only thing to really look out for is does the fuelling hunt in slow-moving traffic? I don't know, but the Rivale I borrowed for a long weekend a couple of years ago did and it was really annoying. The MV looks the biz, the triple motor is fantastic and has power everywhere without having so much that your licence will be ripped up in 10 minutes. Sorry, my fellow Ducati fans.
I think you might find yourself wanting to go out more because you will love the look and the attention you will find any excuse to go around the block until it's dark and won't want to put it back in the garage Oh and red is the best colour Hello and welcome into the mad house
yes i would thats why little things like a single swing arm make the whole look of the bike to me anyway, going to look at 1 later its on 10k miles which is a bit high for me but least ill get a feel for it and see the size etc
