959 What Crash Protection

  1. Bought my 959 last year on finance (not pcp) with the intention to keep it for road use until it's paid off before I track it and continue on track in the meantime with my gsxr 750 k7. The problem is I'm in Jersey so it's frustrating and only get over to France now and again.

    So I'm like #### it lets go for it, fingers crossed I don't take a tumble and if I do I can sell the gsxr and pay for any repairs. To lessen the blow what's the priority crash protection? I can't afford to put everything on at the moment

  2. I generally wouldn't bother because you tend to scratch panels regardless. I would put the GBRacing engine covers on though, so at least you're not having to repair the engine. I'd probably go with front axle bobbins to protect the fork lowers and some rear bobbins to protect the swingarm.

  3. For around £500 you can get the DP fairings as well.

  4. What are those fairings mate? Do they fit allowing for all the road trim as will be riding to the track

    But fork and swing arm protectors & casing covers would be a good start.
     
  6. Yes, they fit straight on and give you the option of removing lights if you wish (I left my lights on as I do a bit of road riding). They are essentially the road fairings unpainted. I just had a set wrapped so I can keep my original road fairings safe!...

  7. As Jolley said - they are unpainted OEM fairings that come with dummy lights and plugs that ensure no warning lights etc. They are therefore a perfect fit, allow you to use street or track options and are actually cheaper than most low quality alternatives.
    (Photo because I love it!) This is my R with the DP fairings wrapped to match OEM colours- stock can re-fitted to get past draconian UK noise testing.....

  10. Where did you guys get the wraps from, how much were they and are they any good? I've seen some dreadful wraps recently, but I never thought of the idea of doing it on dp fairings so the bike matches
     
  11. Finish is flawless, and at £330 including the tank it was a lot cheaper than paint. I will just have to see how it lasts....

  13. I had mine done by Bristol Blue but they said they wont be doing any more bikes as too fiddly....

    K-signs in Ramsey did mine, chap called Andrew, £250 but again interested to see how long they last

  16. ducabike rearset fixed pegs hold up pretty well. I had mine dropped once and the damages were the peg, front and rear brake levers, bar end.
     
  17. I'd have rearsets but I can't go any higher than standard as I need the leg room
     
  18. i didn't have it set on the highest hold. It's the second highest further back.
