I'd personally go for a bullet proof Honda. I use a Blackbird as my hack/commuter toy. A squirt of ACF50 and the bike is shiny new come the spring. Good solid motor with minimal depreciation with a comfortable riding position thrown in
It got inserted into the side of a focus at about 45 mph. The impressive bit is that the focus didn't fare much better...
Winter hack then it's an old Suzuki Bandit 600 or 1200. The finish on them wasn't great new but I ve had a few over the years and never been let down one. Loads out there to choose from.
