Is there a trick to removing and more importantly replacing the side panels under the seat unit (and forwards to the tank) on an 1198? Coming off they were very difficult and I had to bend them at the tank and were fouled by the seat unit on the rear at the attachment Came off ok but worried may break going back on - they are carbon Is there any magic trick to this? Especially at the rear attachment? I am assuming the rear seat cowl has to go back on first then the side panel Thanks
I've removed mine once but they are the original plastic ones, they didn't present a problem removing them but a certain degree of bending to facilitate removel and fitting were experienced, the most pesky part was lining up the holes of the rubber well nuts under the seat unit, having said that carbon is a little less flexible and would need a bit more care, I would suggest using a hairdryer to warm the carbon before trying to bend into position
CF ones are a pain in the *r*e to put back on.....just wait till you change the rear shock...... Ducati's designers may have made them look pretty, but never actually thought about working on them.
Have put on an evotech tail tidy and changed all the indicators - my god what a total pain in the ass lol Worked on my 748 lots and all relatively straightforward The 1198 is all covers screws and tight clearances lol Does look amazing though Mods list almost finished and everything bolted on Deciding best place for resistors and control units for lights so its neat and tidy under there at the moment
You thinking of LED indicators and possibly HIDs? I (and a bunch of others on here) can offer some help suggestions on that front if you like My experience is the same as Barmby re the panels, needed to move them around a bit and it was bad enough with the standard plastic ones which flex................would not like to do CF ones, rigid and expensive.....Ooooh. Do look the dogs mind John
Gone with the DP carbon mirrors on the front and some new micro indicators which are really really bright single diode leds (I think made by Oxford) onto a Evotech tail tidy Need to source a decent numberplate light that is very small and very bright and also the connector for the numberplate light (male end) so I can rewire it properly Pleased to say the flash rate is ok - the indicators come with control units and also resistors and this has coped with the change on the front as well What is really pleasing and a total fluke is the mirror flash colour and the rears is exactly the same - that kind of yellow green of the DP ones
