Not as uncommon as you might think. I indulged in a bit of S&M with my old 916, I had however snapped it in half when I went flying backwards through a dry stone wall. :ambulance: Not the best day of my life tbh.
Ouch!! I feel your pain! That is a good effort!! Mine was a simple MOT failure due to a worn hub bearing. Doesn't compare. I did however manage to goose the engine by snapping the chain during a wheelie. The flailing end of the chain smashed the engine casing as it exited out the back of the bike. I glued it back together and it's been fine for over a decade. Lucky it was the casing and not my leg I guess .... ; ^ )
Nice!! Mine is supposed to look like this ...... when it's in one piece! I bought it with the Hot Wheels green flames already applied. The previous owner had it done from new by a friend who was a professional paint sprayer. I've got used to it now ... seeing I've had the bike for over 15 years it's probably as well!
Plus it makes it easier to find amongst all the other Ducatis at conventions. One nice thing is that only the side panels and the tail-piece were painted so it's relatively easy to return to stock.
A casesaver? Hmmm, had to google that! Nice tip, thanks Birdie ... gonna go invest some moolah in one o' dem!!
