with a few miles now put on the sled I cannot help thinking euro 4 is making the power a little asmatic in the midrange and I am sure a pipe and map will cure the problem, it seems that most aftermarket systems as well as looking shite do not fit the sled, anyone know if there is a system available or in the pipeline yet, hoping Akra or sc will come up with something soon.
I totally agree with your comments and I to have been 'trawling' the internet hoping that someone will bring a pipe out to fit the Sled. I have asked the question to a few people now and they all same the same - wait a few more months and they will appear. As soon as one does out I will put it on the forum so we all know.
Yes, I know that one exists, but thats the problem there is only one and its over £1000. For the other scramblers there are loads to choose from. Think its just a waiting game?
Trouble is that exhaust is holomaglatef or what ever it's called and looks shit, the standard ones look great but are so restrictive , a decat would do but I fear it may be well to loud, do a decat pipe and baffeled can will do.
I love the look of the standard pipes as well, really suits the bike, but it is a tad to quite and no doubt restrictive, I agree a decat pipe will be to noisy and sound crap, looks like it's a waiting game until something hits the market.. I might see if it's possible to open the cat up, have a poke around and weld it back up again...?
Very interesting read on another Scrambler Forum regarding the High Level Termi for the Sled, firstly he says its a very bad fit and secondly and more importantly it sounds no different! Think that makes my mind up not to buy!
Boomer, you might want to check out another piece - 'Desert Sled Slip on Mounting Question' Whats your opinion on the Akrapovic exhaust and the issues of the bracket etc? I have been considering buying one to fit to my Sled, obviously with a couple of mods, don't know wether to wait or jump in?

Yes it's a waiting game. When the original Scrambler range was launched there was nothing but the Termignoni to choose from. Six months later and there was a whole raft of manufacturers and exhausts to pick from.
Had my bike Dyno tested today just to see what was going on, even though it seems to be running very well with the new pipe. It is running on the lean side although not dangerously high but still think I may get the Power Commander fitted.
Unfortunately the file won't open correctly, at least not on my iPhone, could you photograph the results and upload the photos?, I had my XJR1300 dynoed and that was tending towards a lean condition but the tester said not dangerously so and recommend that I left it as it was.
That is what the 'tester' told me but when you get advice from other people they say 'its lean so get a power commander or a new map' Please see a reply from somewhere else The ideal ( rideability and power , not stereometric) AF rate is around 13.2 /13.6. In my opinion the bike is running lean. Its not too bad ... but I'm sure that it is not good. You are running over 14.5 from 2800 rpm to 6400 rpms that are the most usual rpm rate when you are riding the bike. Curiously over 6000 rpm to 8000 rpm the AF rate is good. In my opinion you need to remap or change the A/F rate... I am thinking about rapid bike evo and it´s adaptive A/F tune using the lambda sensor...could be the way to go... the question is that I'm not sure if the oem Narrow Band lambda sensor could do this work... In the other side, I would like to see the A/F with the home plug installed... that could be enough if you are not looking max performance, only be in the safe zone. And other question is about mpg , probably rapid bike is going to look for optimal power and the mpg is going to be quite bad. The question is that the Scrambler tank is not big and range is not bad because of the good fuelling from factory... Booster Plug only works in transitions (accelerations and decelerations) so probably works better for a good mpg...and it is considerabily cheaper... For me 3 or 4 hp more is nothing in this kind of bikes... If you need more power...this is the wrong bike. I have change the exhaust pipe because of the sound.... if I have to change the ecu or fuelling to be in the safe zone... ok I will do it... but if I have a good ridebility and the engine is in the safe zone, I would like to have a decent range better than little more power.
I guess on balance it's best to get it sorted, it would probably be a concern in the back of your mind every time you rode it if you didn't, more expense as usual but peace of mind, let us know which option you go for, I'll get mine booked in at the dyno next weekend and use one of my other bikes til then just to be on the safe side.
