........it's getting whiter and whiter every morning out here......... ........not clearing at all. ........heating on all day. ........even going outside to check the oil tank level is like an Arctic expedition, 10 feet from the back door...... AL
Beautifull brisk morning here in the Vale of York, out with the dogs @ 06.30. Got a bit foggy now though. Got to be better that the rain that is due !! Where are you - North Pole ??
In a dip........and it's just frost, not snow..............yet. This is what we get when it does.....
Oh Bu@@er, hope you had your seat belt on ! Always fancied a bit of a rover in a dyke, but not like this !! ( Soz it's a Bemmer )
It wasn't mine fortunately, but I had to hep them get the two babies out from their child seats........lucky for them the water wasn't higher....when the thaw set in proper, it would have been above the radiator grille.
I realised yesterday that -4 and freezing fog is my limit for riding a motorbike. Not doing that again
I did it once when I was young going to work when my lift never turned up.......my hands wouldn't work when I got there and couldn't undo the buckle on my helmet....when they thawed out a bit they felt like they were on fire.......NEVER again!
In the early 80s I had to jump on the Guzzi and ride from Colchester to Peterborough (100 miles) to collect a new passport which I needed in a hurry. The weather was freezing fog, low temperatures, fallen snow not cleared......When I got there I had a four hour wait........and then the return trip. Bike was faultless.......more than you could say for me.......more or less rigid when I got home. And the next day I had to get to Bristol Parkway which was being hammered by a blizzard........then back to Gatwick for a plane to.......... .........Switzerland for a month! Took me about three years to thaw. AL
-1 with heated grips yesterday - 10 miles was fine, but no further fank you very much Not sure if they actualy work at that temp
decided after riding to work this morning that the summer gloves are going in the drawer and the winter ones are coming out Steve
I use oxford wind stoppers under gloves lovely. Lowest I went out was -7, all in all was good that day just that I was standing on the only bike around while cars were sliding all round.
went for a ride on dartmoor yesterday, was +7 degrees c and sunny, got home had a few missed calls to do with work and a customer in swanley kent told me it was -6 there, enjoyed the ride, not the cleaning bike after
And today, the frost and nearly all the ice has gone.......................now got high winds (cold) and horizontal heavy rain.......perhaps I should have been a trawlerman....
Cold, wet and raining here, but at least it’s Friday. Picking up a pair of bearings for the Elefant cam belt tensioner on the way home, so can set the belts, refit covers and then decide what else to take of and fettle before the rebuild starts. The forks are rebuilt with new seals, new rear master cylinder and handle bars obtained. The Akront rims have polished up very nicely, now with new rubber. I read somewhere that they can be run tubeless ?? Spring is only just around the corner, hang on ! PS dipped oil tank last night only 3” left in !!
I remember when I was a young man, riding up to West Byfleet from the South Coast one winter. Stepped off the bike, wandered into the office reception area and found that sheets of ice were dropping off the front of my leathers onto the floor. Freezing fog makes for great draught-proofing
