I'm fairly new to this forum having only joined back in December last year when I finally took the plunge and bought the bike I had always wanted a Multi 1200S DVT (2016). I have to say that having checked through the various comments and threads on the forum at that time I was more than a little nervous. The reality however has been a total revelation, with nothing but positives, and I thought given my initial thoughts I should share this with you all, especially those considering a Ducati for the first time. I have put more miles on this bike in the last 6 months including through the winter than anything else I have ever owned before, and I find myself looking for any excuse to get out on it. Other than a rock through my radiator (my own fault for not fitting a guard, now sorted) she has been faultless. At times, especially after she's had a good clean I can just pull up a chair and sit and look at her. I'm averaging around 52mpg even when 2 up and the power when pushed is incredible, intoxicating even. The Skyhook is as described, I've only had ABS as an electronic aid before this and it all works so very well given confidence on every outing regardless of the weather. I am prone to fiddling and tweaking things a bit and have found the following mods to be beneficial: - Handlebars - raised by 25mm, and tilted back a little Seats - fitted Touratech Comfort options which resolves the tilting forward feeling you get with the standard seats. I have also recently added a 3D mesh cover which not only adds to the comfort but also allows an element of airflow if your riding in jeans keeping things cooler (picture below) Tyres - the standard Scorpion 2 OEM tyres are OK but not the best in the wet. I have now fitted the new Metzereler Roadtec 01 tyres and the handling and ride quality improvement is fantastic Screen - suffered a little with buffeting and wind noise, a small/lower screen works well for the buffeting but the wind noise leaves you needing earplugs (these don't work well with an intercom). So I have combined the Ducati touring screen with a smaller screen fitted in front of it (actually from a Honda Crosstourer) and a Puig deflector on top. This works a treat with no buffeting and virtually no wind noise.....now I can hear the wife telling me to slow down so not all good news (picture below) Sorry this is rather a long post, but I really wanted to share what are my really positive experiences with this fantastic bike, I hope like me you all do the same ! PS it was good to see so many Ducatis, particularly Mutleys at the Southern Bikefest last weekend, a great day out !
Two screens...? That what they mean by double vision Has it worked though as wind noise was a terrible issue when I had mine. Like giving a leaf blower a BJ
Good read; I agree skyhook is amazing. Cornering lights & colour dash are ace. You need to treat yourself to the termi-&-racing ecu kit & you'll be blown away by the unleashed power. I'm thinking of going back to a set of scorpian's II trails from my roadtec 01's because I managed 8.5k, then 4.5 with roadtec's though I couldn't get the HWM (heavy weight motorcycling) version for my multi-enduro. Only the standard Roadtec 01 for rear which I've chewed through in no time.
The outer lower screen is mounted lower and is much wider throwing the air out over the hand-guards, it's mounted on spacers 25mm high giving an area of negative air pressure which certainly seems to do the job. I'm thinking of adding some little winglets to the top corners of the touring screen as my experiments show that this could rid me of the final 5% of wind noise. Might look naff though, we'll see ! A lot of my riding is 2 up and I'm no lightweight myself but the stability alone at all angles impresses me with the Roadtecs, I'll report back on how long they last !
Yep good to hear someone giving these bikes a good word, apart from a few warranty jobs I cant fault my bike either although it's the twin spark model. On the topic of tyres I've kept with the Angel GT's on mine, I ride well lets say spirited most of the time and I can honestly say there brilliant, good mileage and totally planted in the wet, the only time I've felt like I've needed to slow down through movement from them is in the early mornings going to work through the lake district and there being lots of sap / pollen on damp roads. I think if you gave them a try you wouldn't be disappointed.
I'd call it tinted rather than black, it's the standard part, must be a trick of the light ! I did consider the Angel GT's, but succumbed to the test reviews
Another Angel gt fan here, twin spark also,I shall be replacing them soon with another set, 90% pillion use cant falt them tbh.
Moto Rapido in Winchester do a set, they are 25mm tall which is about as far as you can raise them without longer cables. There is a little room to free up some cable length but not a lot
I agree with getting a good set of cans and the termi's are nice but getting the ECU flashed buy a decent Dyno and getting a just as good cheaper set of cans it the way I'd go . Obviously the termi's come with the racing ECU but you'll get a bigger difference with you bike put on a Dyno and flashed
I got these as well, easily fitted, no need to change hoses and a little more comfort on my wrist angle. They are actually the same set that Ducati sell to lower the handlebars on the Enduro!
I took the extra bar risers off my S GT when I had a problem with my lower back after riding for an hour or more, thinking they sat me up to up right, I sorted the problem a different way but haven't bothered to put them back in, to be honest I didn't notice much difference when I took them out.
