Bought a set of these from Kurvey Girl KurveyGirl - Motorcycle Stuff: Dzus Fasteners, angled valve stems, Vesrah and More not that easy to fit, took a few evenings and a bit of swearing, but blend into the bike more nicely instead of the silver standard ones a few tools panels off bike, some drilling required installing quarter turn bolts fitted onto bike i also fitted a carbon V piece whilst i was at it, from Conquest Carbon
I do like Dzus fasteners but have always been worried by the scaremongery that goes with them of fairing panels blowing off at speed. Defo a thumbs up on the looks front for me. On a side note, Ant, what sort of money would anodising a clutch cover weigh in at?
I always found dzus fasteners a bit of a pain when polishing.polish around edge of fasteners and having to keep lifting them up.perhaps it's just me.lol.
About £25 at most. I normally batch things up as it's cost per tank/run rather than cost per item, so the more items we can get into the tank at once the cheaper it is! Obviously if you want some lairy colour then that doesn't apply...
But the beauty of a dzus is you can take it out and out in back in seconds so cleaning becomes easier
Especially if you own one of the older bikes or enjoy a little tinker. The 848 fairings are a huge ball ache to take off!
Looks like you need a rad gaurd me old mate.... I don't think 848 etc panels are that bad tbh, but then I work on late blades and 1000rr's!
I'm tempted by an STM wire clutch cover and quite fancy it in black or an anthracite(y) colour. I'll let you know as/when it occurs matey. Cheers.
As much as I like Dzus fasteners, my experience of them is that they can be a right pain in the butt, especially if you sit on one when it has sprung up..........which is why I always used a 25mm square of duct tape over them on the outift and road bikes....which doesn't look good on a nice bike. The spring loaded ones are the best because if they do pop open, you don't lose them, but getting the fixing dead right for tension etc can be bl**dy awkward. I don't like the loop ones because they are an invitation for a thief to walk off with your panels in a matter of seconds.......and yeah, OK, the slotted ones do open easily sometimes with a coin (but not if you get the tension right)..... ....but Dzus also do security quick fasteners as well........Can't recall the type reference though... AL.
yes, you have to drill a couple of them bigger yes, i was thinking of getting something made up theres only two 'd' clip ones, nearer the tank, the rest are 1/4 turn allen heads the main stay bolts are still in place, as proper bolts, so i think them falling off is going to be a rare occurence my main reason for changing was going for black bolts from silver, look much better matching the frame colour
If you want black it'll be cheaper as it's the most popular and cheapest colour to do. However, I don't think the STM cover you mean ever came in anything but titanium.
