Hello all! Hope your all well.. Can you help a helpless man out. Giving the pani 899 some throttle love this evening and I was recieved a lovely gift of an orange engine management light, ABS light and a continual 4 gear (even though I was up and down the box) engine was running fine throughout all this. Anyone seen/know what could be causing this? Thanks
Your DTC feedback appears to have left the building... I'd look down the rear end for broken sensor or cable... Thats a huge stab in the dark BTW
Correct andy, DTC left the building again. It was like riding my rider-aidless GSXR track bike again. It's already sounding expensive this
The gear position sensor wires to the BBS (Black Box System) under the seat, but other than on the gearbox I'm not sure where the sensor is? The big BBS plug is known to cause issues once in a while so worth giving it a clean, but often it's just a case of checking the wiring and plugs between the suspect sensors. I'm not very familiar with the 899 dash but it looks like your Traction Control is off ?? This can happen when one of the sensors has been knocked out such as the speed sensor on the front wheel; the wire under the mudguard can rub through on the tyre if it's been dis lodged during a wheel change, and the ABS warning comes on as well when the TC is out I think but may be wrong. On the 1199 it tells you if its the speed sensor out , not sure about the 899? I didn't think the gear position sensor is anything to do with the whole traction control, etc though as it connects directly to the BBS rather than through the CAN bus as far as I can see?
It sounds familiar to an episode I had recently (1199S) where I got a engine light, BBS warning and the display locked in 4th gear (engine and gearbox was working fine) and the DTC went blank. this was the first ride after I had washed it properly. First time I had seen the error, but plenty of others on various Ducati forums have described a similar error after washing or driving in rain. Solution for me was to take out the BBS from under the seat, clean and dry the plug and the pins on the BBS, put dielectric grease and reassemble. After reassembling the error was gone and all systems back to normal.
