Pick up day, so a trawl after work to Bangor last night (boy the XC60 doest like holding a pace on twisty roads...amazed I made it!) and dinner with my soon to graduate lad in his favourite 'spoons, 4 beers and then the trip home today. Bar end mirrors were waiting for me so stuck one on. Now have a gixer that I can see whats happening behind too Was out for a stag tonight, but home later than planned so canned it.
Fun day out and t-shirt weather too, met a few mates who have recently been buying older bikes, Roger turned up on his Stafford Show Best 1970's winner CB500. He's had it since 1984, done about 65,000 miles on it in the 80's and early 90's, then rebuilt it as new about 10 years ago. 90% of the whole bike is new original parts he collected over the last 30 years including crank / internals / cylinder head / tank / seat / wheels / exhausts / clocks / all nuts and bolts. He decided to put it on the road and has so far covered 140 miles. TDR250 and an original H2 came along too, it was interesting trying to keep up with their slowness of them all, the Ducati suffered at times. Coasted by a horse & rider with the clutch in as you do and the horse bolted - bloody load without the baffles, think I might dig them out! Got home and chilled in the evening sun shine with a fab view of my back garden
After spending the day running around sorting other peoples shizzle I cracked open the beer fridge this afternoon and started to tackle the list of plop the wife left me...So far I've Cleaned and tidied the house pissed, washed the car pissed, watered the garden pissed (that was fun), washed the dust off the back wheel of the 899 pissed...Now I'm cooking my tea Keith Floyd style....Pissed
Went to with the lad on push bikes to watch wife and 6 other middle age women try motorcycling for the first time at the local dirt bike school. Pootling round a field on 80cc bikes with the instructors doing the kick starting and putting in 2nd for them. Not laughed so much in months Then lad had a massive off coming down a big hill and went over handle bars and landed on his head, thought he broke his neck. Was really not good. Thank heavens it was on grass verge not the road. He seems fine now but I can still see it so clearly. He got away with one there.
Went to see Tom Jones last night in Sherwood Forest. He was really good but the funniest thing was two women arguing and jostling for position in the crowd just in front of us silly tarts. In a few mins I'm gonna get ready to go out and meet @bettes and we're heading north and dropping in to see my mum then doing a bit of a loop through some nice countryside with nice twisties, to get back around 2.30/3pm . Should be around 250 miles of awesome roads today
It's a glorious hot and sunny morning, and so I'm heading out around the Ards Peninsula with Ducmon1200S. Great twisty roads around the coast.
Change of plan as the weather suddenly changed for the worse :/ So I'm gonna head up north to see my mum in the car. Hopefully back around 1.30pm and out on the bike this afternoon when the weather has improved a bit. I hate the uk weather
About 30 seconds after finishing the big lecture to the household about not stepping on the freshly painted front step. Then the cat walked straight over it and left a trail through the hall, kitchen and dining room.
Got back from a 3 day break in Barcelona (arrived home this morning at 1am so I can claim that I did it today!) Really hot but good fun and we didn't get pick pocketed - which is nice!
Bought another tool for removing a front spindle (must have enough to start a shop!) then found one of the caliper bolts is rounded. Balls.
