1200 Enduro Rear Shock Recall

  1. Had the rear shock replaced yesterday (as part of the Ducati recall). Had yours done yet? Any post fitting issues?

  2. NO issues

  3. Got it swapped over fairly promptly & thought it would be just the back bracket. Instead it was the whole unit swapped out & changed.

  4. Yep mine seems fine too after the swap... it was done at the same time as 9,000 mile service, new chain and sprockets and a new Termi exhaust (the slip on not the full system).

  5. This is my first chain driven bike. 9000 miles for a chain and sprockets?? Only?

  6. It's a long storey... but this is a personal thing. In summary my chain snapped on my previous KTM 1190 after 13,000 miles on the M1 motorway doing about 70mph. Not only was this a brown trouser moment it caused me a great deal of grief and expense (the whole engine casing was damaged and had to be replaced). I looked after my chain (cleaned, oil and tensioned) but had to convince KTM this wasn't my fault.... The repair took over 12 weeks to complete, we agreed I would pay the labour (over £1,200.... the full repair would have been in excess of £5,000).. and I ended up trading in the KTM (still in bits) for my Multistrada as I got so frustrated with the dealer. I'm not going through that again, so I check the tension before every ride, clean and oil it regularly. Oh and will change it at every 9,000 mile service.

  7. Hi
Which models does this affect and when did the recall start. I bought my pikes peak new 4 weeks ago.
    Thanks

  8. The recall I mentioned was just related to the Multistrada Enduro I believe.

  9. Ok thanks

  10. Not related to the shock swap, but on the strip down photo above (GunZenBomz), I see that the Alu top box has some tie down straps attached at the front.

Is this part of the standard install or is it a bit of belt & braces to ease wind loading on the box mounts?

I did similar to my Givi Trekker, but that was because I didn't have the support arms fitted and I never really liked it as a solution.

  11. @nsm3 they are the smaller rok straps you can buy for carrying a light selection of stuff on the top-case lid. They don't come with the cases & the standard rok-straps are amazing.
