A New Watch ?

  1. Interesting, i didn't know they had stopped making mine. One of the main reasons i preferred the one i have over the submariner is because it didn't have the cyclops, the replacement does! + is bigger in diameter @43mm

  6. Whatever the make and wherever made, a gentleman is just not quite dressed without a good watch.

I would love several if funds permitted. Theyre such interesting things.

  7. 100% agree, After leaving the house, I have turned back home before now if I realised that I'd forgotten my watch.

  8. I purposely avoid looking into them more deeply as it can develop into a really expensive hobby. Very quickly. Id quite like an old navitemer. Right. Stop that. Stop that now. Bail bail bail......

  10. Running a little late also :)

  11. I,m lucky to have a few watches and at the moment am favouring the Panerai Radiomir and Cartier Drive. both are big cases with the Pan being bulkier than the cartier. The Pan is also chronometer certified. you dont see many of either around. the pan is steel case with black face and a custom dark buttery coloured strap. the cartier is steel with a white face and black strap

Here's my automatic collection, I know they "just" tell the time and I keep thinking maybe I should sell some but I wear them all, the Omega's case is completely ceramic and a work of art with the addition of a real piec of metiorite as the dial, the hublot is an engineering masterpiece albeit massive and 1 of only 1000, I love the Pani for its classic look and one of the few models which retains the domed crystal glass, the bell & Ross is just something different, the cheapest but always gets commented on, good luck with your shopping trip, I love watch shopping :)

  13. Nothing like a naked man with a watch on ;)

  15. The pan would be my choice of that collection, the omega a little fussy, the hub a bit too utilitarian work like and the bell and Ross? Well there's a story, my mate bought one from parkhouse and before he'd got home, both hands had fell lose and both just sat at 6 o'clock. All very nice, but the pan would be for me. If all folk liked the same, world be a boring place eh.... ;)

  16. I had the Sea Dweller, model before the 4000 version. Brilliant watch, wish I still had it now.

If looking at a Sea Dweller, go for the older model without the Cyclops. The minute you buy a sea dweller with a black bezel and Cyclops ...... it looks like a Sub, which are very nice, but obvious choice and "common" (if you could ever call any Rolex common).

If you are thinking with your wallet, I would always suggest a stainless steel Rolex sports watch. My Sea Dweller cost me £2,200 new. I wore it every day for 7 years. Spent a couple of nights polishing all the marks out of, cleaned it properly and it looked like new. Sold it for £4,100 cash.

Now wear a Deepsea for my every day watch. Bought second hand 6 years ago, now worth at least £3k more than I paid for it. I love the engineering that goes in to these watches.

I see the stainless sports watches as great investments, as well as very nice watches.

For best I have an Omega Speed master (manual moon watch) bought new 15 years ago, and still ooks like new. The story behind the moon watch and the engineering is brilliant.

Good luck with your purchase, let us know what you go for.

  18. Self winding or automatic?

  19. Indeed and there's a wealth of Swiss manufacturers out there, dream watch would be a Richard Miele but until I get some inheritance that'll have to wait! The omega looks much much better in the flesh btw, changes in the light haven't seen a decent photo of it yet!
