Cleanest Chain Lube Bar None

  1. So after trying almost every brand over the years, I have had to admit defeat and shelled out for an old favourite from Germany. Profi Dry Lube. Downside is it needs to be applied fairly frequently. Upside is there is absolutely no fling whatsoever. It does not attract dirt unlike Wurth dry chain lube or WD40's offerings and is less messy to apply than any wax I've tested. Not cheap and a pain to get hold of (I ordered direct from PDL in Germany), but worth every penny IMHO. I used to use it years ago when it was readily available here, but recently it's become increasingly hard to find a UK stockist.

  2. Totally agree, have used in past and it's the best, just a little tricky to get hold off, so I just use wurth which is good if you clean the chain regularly.

  3. Love Wurth, hate WD40 chain lube with a passion I save for a certain bastard few.

  4. Another shout out for Würth dry chain lube

  5. Muc off dry lube is really clean too. Doesn't fling at all. Motul does a better job but does fling quite a bit

  6. S-Doc white lube for me. Zero fling lasts 500 miles between applications. Cleans easily too.

  7. Yep +1 for this stuff

It is like a wet but dry lube in as much as it does not fling but then does not wash off easily in the wet

I have been using it for a couple of years now and it is excellent

The chain cleaner is also very very good

  8. M & P in Swansea - £14.06 a can - free delivery on orders over £25.

  9. 6T9 chain lube... but for no other reason than it smells like bubblegum. I could be pouring sand on my chain for all I care, it smells lush :upyeah:

  11. Excellent I will give them a try next time I need to re-order. Thanks.

  12. Thanks. Will try them possibly next time I need to order though they only appear to stock the 150ml cans at that price which is quite expensive, compared to direct from PDL for the larger 400ml can at around the same price

  13. The WD 40 chain cleaner is very good as well. Works perfectly on the S-Doc. Don't like their nasty claggy lube but the cleaner is excellent and available in Halfrauds.

  14. I'm clearly applying it too liberally because it goes everywhere even having left it overnight. It also has good corrosion inhibitors which on the Ducati OE chain is essential. Andy

  15. I ordered these today..

  16. Mine doesn't fling twenty minutes after spraying it on. Are you shaking the can enough?
Either that or I'm riding too slowly..

  17. Mmm, so how long do you shake the can for ? The instructions on the can are non existant. Please tell me it's not like a can of paint that you have to agitate for like 4 minutes. Andy

  18. I shake only for a few seconds, purely from habit with aerosols. Honestly don't know whether it makes any difference or not but I've never had any fling. Some gunk behind the front sprocket cover and the underside of the chain guard but far less of it than I've had from any other lube and never anything on the back wheel.
I used to use Rockoil lube and was in the habit of making a special effort to lube in the evening after a ride so it had overnight to evaporate and reduce the fling. With S-Doc I use it whenever. I've even applied it immediately before riding and just spun the wheel and held a cloth against the underside of the chain run to take off the excess and I've still not had any fling.
Maybe the make and type of chain makes a difference. My KTMs have DID chains, the Ducati is Ognibene. I can't remember what its like on the Ducati. Its been in dry-dock so long I forgotten. Now you mention it I'll do a comparison when I get it back.
I do use ACF50 after nearly every clean, including on the wheel rims and the KTMs have smooth gloss-finished wheels. Maybe on my bikes its just not sticking to the wheels.

  19. Got a current link? Can't see it on their website now.
