Jersey for the weekend....went walking along the cliffs in the north.... And then ended up here... Home today....withdrawal symptoms from lack of vtwin action...
Went for dinner with daughter No 1 who is up from London and announced her engagement, and daughter No 2 who has returned home after a lengthy spell living in Barcelona.
Cleaned, oiled, polished and titivated the bike after getting back yesterday from a week of riding round Wales. Got back just in time for the sun to come out... Still, only had one day that was really a wash out and I got in 1700 quality dry miles and found stacks of new roads and went to loads of places I'd never been before. Europe is great but there's an awful lot on the doorstep which so many people will never know about. Ireland next year. A week north and a week south. Sorting out the accommodation now..
On the plane to come home...definately the cheaper the airline the ropier the stewardess looks like Deirdre Barlow that's got load bearing make up with a hat on.
Today I went to a vintage bike show at the Crich Tramway Museum. A great turnout for a first attempt. Steve
Just attended the Coke Daytona 400. Dale Ernhart retired from NASCAR at this meeting, unfortunately he got rammed in the wall at 200 mph and his car was terminally knackered , huge crowds and very patriotic given it's July the 4th weekend.
Went out with some friends & my cousin lent me one of his practice crf's wouldn't let me out on his pro series race bike for some reason haha
Been to Ireland many times over the years but only once on a bike... The place is full of fantastic roads! My parents have a B&B on the outskirts of Kenmare if your down that way, have good bike facilities there as they seem to get a fair amount of groups touring southern Ireland booking in throughout the year. Also have great facilities for cleaning of said bikes and comprehensive toolbox on site for tinkering to sort out any issue's that may need a bit of attention too... There website is www.sheenview.com I would also recommend trying to include the 'Ring of Kerry'... And the 'Healy Pass' route from Kenmare to Glengariff, if you visit this part of the south Just a bit of inspiration for you
Spoke at some length to the wife about a subject that she really regretted starting. Here's how it started... Wife: what's this oil doing here? Me: that's Terry's, left over from when I did his oil change. Wife: is it going to stay here or can you use it in your bike? Me: well, no... (insert speaking to wife for 3 minutes about different oils).
I've done 130 miles on the scrambler, taking in a stop to Get Geared in Leeds to buy a d30 back protector for my textile jacket, and calling in to #2 sons for a cuppa and to see the grandchildren (my 2yo grandson loves to sit on my bike and rev it. He can't stop squealing and laughing when he revs the throttle. 5yo granddaughter not so much ) 130 miles were good, cross town and country twisties. I really enjoy road riding.
When I was changing down the box I couldn't find a gear at all in a couple of places, I had to go off track , stop find 1st then carry on, the last time was at the end of the Wellington straight so I came in after that and called it a day. I'll send it over to Rich and let him have a look.
Clocked up 100 miles with Ducmon1200S in glorious sunshine on a great ride on A & B twisty roads around County Down.
Fingers crossed it's something simple like clutch pack or oil getting overheated or gear lever bit loose
Not what I've done but what I'm going to do tomorrow. Used my birthday voucher and will be out all day with Rapid Training, http://rapidtraining.co.uk/, looking at improving my road riding skills. Early start to be at a McDonalds near Aylesbury and then who knows where for a solid day of riding instruction. Looking forward to it if a little apprehensive about maintaining the concentration for that length of time. Andy
