Helppp!! Leathers Advice

  1. Isn't the armour and padding the same throughout the range?
    Maybe less titanium/ventilation

  2. Some is fitted as standard and some is an fitted at additional cost. IIRC, the coxyx padding is not available on every suit. Minor stuff but worth reading the description in full. Andy

  3. One thing I noticed when looking for a 2 piece & trying them on, is how much the armour can move around at knees & elbows. You could have the finest armour on the planet, but if it moves off the joint it's protecting when you come off you might as well have put a pack of crisps there instead. We're all different shapes and sizes and off the peg good gear won't fit everyone properly.

  4. This is why I very rarely use fabric these days. A lot of it just moves as you mention but also I had a head on (well knee first..) crash into a car a couple of years back and whilst it probably saved my knee it also put a big hole in my leg that needed thirty odd stitches because the padding moved and dug into my leg. Leather is usually much better as its not baggy.

  5. Should have qualified my last post with the fact I was looking at off the peg leather 2 piece suits. Which is why I went with m-t-m BKS in the end.

  6. my first suit was a spidi 2 piece and unlike a lot of their italian brethren much of their stuff is still made in italy. were it not for having bagged a furygan dark apex one piece for peanuts id likely be in another spidi suit

re the gloves i am massively into my kushitanis after being recommended them by someone who'd had an off in them... they are quite old tech by todays standards but seem to be well relied upon by race teams in the states and japan

  7. Bikestop are doing a clearance sale of 30% off on dianese leathers. Give them a call & see if they have the stuff you are after in that sale. The shop is outside of m25, Stevenge. Martin who runs it also does discounts of IAM members.

  8. Thanks mate I actually spoke to fabrizio earlier :)

I'm pretty much sold on Held either the race Evo or the slade.
I was just about to order the Evo but I can't find a 48 anywhere for god sake lol!

  9. Will SportsBike order you one?

  10. I've emailed them just now hopefully they will. I only heard good about Held so hopefully it'll live up to expectation..

    I've looked online and can't seem to find a 48 anywhere ?

Does anyone know what helds sizing is like? Do they come up big or small?

  11. I spoke to the SportsBike last week, they quoted a week delivery IIRC.

  12. I am about to buy Alpinestars GP plus with the Race Tech Airbag system...was comparing with Dainese D-air but Alpinestars come out better.
    • Can inflate twice berfore needs to be sent off.
    • west can be set for road use as well.
    • protects chest/ribs.

  13. The d air can be set off twice as well
Mate atleast that's what Italy told me when I called enquiring.

Plus the air bag system in the alpinestars is made by dainese apparently.. I've been told by three different dealers that they have the copyrights to the technology

  14. @Advikaz have you read that article on here somewhere about leather suits and their manufacture.

  15. Can anyone assist with Held sizing? It's confusing the hell out of me. Im a 48 in rst/dainese etc so should I go 48 on Held or do they come up small/large...

  16. My 42 sized Helds where spot on (had spyke and dainese before all 42).
Best to try and then send back if not good.

  17. The Held 44/54 I briefly had were snug on me (stocky build) I'd say order the correct size for you in the first instance.
IIRC SportsBike Shop offer free exchange.

  18. Doesn't look like held even know when or if they're doing the race Evo

So I'll probably go for the slade race suit ...
