Today I fitted a newish 18 amp shorai battery to my 06 999R , which seems to like a new battery every year , it is an easy fit as it is quite a bit smaller that the oe one . It comes with lots of foam packing ,in the box , to make up the space and seems to crank quite a bit faster . I couldnt believe how light weight it is under 1kg as opposed to over 4 kg . Hopefully this one will last.
The weight sounds great, but that's a lot of cash every year, have you thought about a battery optimiser?
I have had ducatis longer than I would like to remember. First being a 851 . I have never been good with batteries but the 999R seems to like them more than most . I do have a tracker on it that could cause a bit of a drain but no alarm . I have always used an optimate 3 but if I leave it for a week without then its no starty . The shorai I am hoping is going to last longer , and I have a three year guarantee . So it should be money well spent.
My 900ss likes new spark plugs after her "winter rest," no matter what I do the old girl flatly refuses to start until I treat her to some, then fires on the first push of the button.
Pierre.....when you put her to bed for the winter then, why not pop a pair of old plugs in, keep the current plugs wrapped in cotton wool in the house, and pop them back in when you wake her up...see if she notices !

I 2 fitted one of those shorai batteries bought from the bay of fleas, cost me 95 spondoolies, a bargain after the last lightweight battery I bought cost £175 and didnt even turn the bike over. The company I got it from assured me it would work -- ! and it does You can get purpose made chargers for them, I dont think trickle chargers do them any good, but I have found out that you can give them a quick charge with an ordinary 12v charger for 5 mins, thats all they need so dont give em any more. This has woked for me with no damage to the battery,touch wood. I have just made a trip over to CJS who works alongside Rich at Lougi Moto to have my ecu remapped,with excellant results (my 999 now makes 138 at the back wheel). However I needed a new ecu which Rich fitted, and set my bike up for a trackday at Brands indy (my first time ever on track) rhanks Rich ,that guy knows his onions. Anyway back to the ecu, it had to be replaced because I'd fried it by trying to start the bike at my hillclimbing events firstly with a jump pack then at later events by giving my first lightweight battery a boost by using my oe battery with connectors as a jump pack. So a word of warning there dont do as I did in desperation not to miss a run, a second hand ecu cost me £200 pete.
Hi ya 470 sorry mate no pics as Im not set up to transfer pics yet, but you know how the oe battery fills up the whole space ,well the lightweight jobbie comes with self adhesive spacers as Duc2422 said (in different sizes) and when in gives you probably 25-30mm clearance on the left side of the battery box if the lightweight battery is hard up to the right,and same below,plus,its so flippen light.

Howdo! Fitted a Ballistic to my Superlight, although early days it sparks the bike up straight away. Also weighs about 1kg......which is nice Cheers Pablo
