  1. Well my trusty 46" Toshiba LCD is starting to lose pixels n its doing my head in so decided on a new 3D LED thingy but torn between 47 and 55".

My darling wife says 47 is big enough but I want to see Rossi on a 55" screen! I know its a blokey thing but how do I win this argument......

  10. Just make sure the day you go to get it, you wear the trousers!

I have a 60" LG one in the front room and I was surprised how good the 3D actually was and a 40" Samsung 3D one I'm my bedroom.

The viewing distance is an important factor for the 3D effects to work properly, the viewing angle is not so much of a problem with Active 3D, but the glasses are a lot more expensive.

LG have stopped doing Active 3D tv's now (some deal with Sky), they only do passive 3D that's why I got the Samsung one last month.

  11. Google isn't broken.......but what's the difference between the active and passive 3D specs?

ps. I'm a Luddite so please explain in words of one syllable

  12. Active glasses have battery's or are rechargeable......Passive ones don't and arn't.

Active uses true 1080p images for 3D as the glasses do the magic, passive is 720 as the screen does the interlacing of the two images.

The viewing angle is miles better with active too, with passive you need to be relatively inline with the screen.

Passive is cheaper tho....LG jumped in with SKY to provide the passive sets for the 3d football in pubs, their glasses are more or less the same as in the cinema.

  13. Just got the sony 55" k850.... very happy with it! like the 55 size it because of the size that is left when you see cinema black bands of the BR or DVD...
looking at eh 42 inch that came before and now mooved up to the youth media room now looks pritty tiny...
also the price diff is now ignorable...

moving up to 63" however is still a 1K jump...

    don't hold back ... it's for a long time

  14. someones gowing macho overkill on telly size here... are you sure its the right issue throw that card on?
