I will give it a go too, I'm assuming weight is with full gear as I'm probably 85kg stark bollock naked!
Morning Ian, a quick question, which modes did they set rear preload at 16 in ? Sport, touring etc ? Had a play yesterday and noticed mine was already 16 in sport and 12 in touring. I never bother with the other 2 modes so don't care what they're in.
You could default all the settings and see what it does. Although (iirc higher number being firmer) I'd guess that would be sport. I think mine was 12 for touring; never really use sport
Yeah, I've not changed the rear Paul, I did the change to the front (5.5 turns in) and was very impressed how much more planted it felt, was just getting ideas that's all, and wondered what Ian thought of 16 on the rear, as I didn't get to try it yesterday cause it was pissing down here. May try some different stuff today, and let you know how it goes. So in touring, you use default on the dash only with the front turned in as described ? (And throttle on max I presume as on 150 low, it feels crap ?)
No I have adjusted mine and think I am around 14, may even be 16, but then I am heavy. On urban I have it set at 1....makes it interesting when I forget having been filtering and get back to a pace...
Ha no the enduro setting. I'm wfh tho today if you fancy dropping south when out testing it. Fresh coffee on all day
WFH, working from home right ? GMdropping lost me though, am I being a bit thick. PS, I am South, live near Cadnam in the Forest. Cheers. Wayne
@bradders , just popping for haircut (won't take him long as not got much left ) , then walk my puppy dawg, Be popping out on bike for about midday, will give you a shout later if I head up that way. I am assuming your Glocester ? (bought my ZZR from there, so know it aint that far, and a nice ride out)
It was in both Sport and Touring. This is your theoretical start set up position for your weight plus kit sitting on the bike in a stationary position or moving along a very flat road. At this point the suspension should have used a 1/3 or 1/2 travel.
For me, this was 6 turns on the front and 16 on the rear. Your weight is similar to mine so this should be about right. But, this is why you pay a suspension specialist £50ish becuase they actually measure the suspension travel as you sit on the bike and then adjust front and rear preload accordingly, basically fine tuning. Alternately, pay a mate £50 and get him to measure your suspension travel while your sat on it, tweak accordingly.
Once you have the preload setting right it should apply to Sport, Touring and Urban mode. I think with Enduro the rules may be slightly different.
Pay a mate 50 Dixie's?? Are you nuts? None of my mates are that good. I've gone for 5.5 turns and 14, see how I get on with that. Cheers, will let you know, am out in it now, armed with my 19mm socket
