As a fat person, what's all that about?! Surely, more than most, less help is best.... Don't get electric bikes (cycles) at all. Trike for someone without the use of legs, yet. Scootas for those with mobility issue, yep. Cycles...nope
It's a bit like counting ketchup on your burger as one of your 5 a day when trying to eat healthily...
Agree, If your trying to make your bike lighter, loosing the lbs from your belly will be cheaper than loosing the £'s from your bank account
It even boils my piss when fat knackers have a mobility scooter in sainsburys, when they're not disabled, Just fat!!!
What about the lecky bikes that only assist ? I tried one of those and I ain't a fat squid but it was decent, on the flats and downhill, hardly knew it was lecky, but uphills, it assisted so it just felt level, was a Bosch something or other, but two and half grand to buy?? Fuck that, at 2500, I want an engine over 750 in it!!!
You bunch of Luddites clearly haven't ridden the latest kit - Cube mtb's especially. If you need a bit more, try one of these (saw one in action at Kielder forest earlier this year http://www.fullycharged.com/Bultaco-Brinco-Electric-Bike .....but you are right about fat people and these things, kinda lulls them into a false of fitness, then they die....
BTW being fat doesn't mean you are unfit. This is more a dig at electric bikes than anything...it was just that I saw a hefty young fella on one whizzing along in traffic...
Frankly I can't see the point in electric bicycles whether fat has anything to with it or not. If it has pedals.............well guess what......pedal the effing thing........ If you don't want to pedal, by an effing motorcycle.........(I say motorcycle because all the mopeds I remember had to be pedalled at some stage or another).
Electric bikes, of all types, are the future......what's not to like? Instant torque, instant go, quiet, cheap to run. Germany and France have already signalled that they will ban ic engines within 20yrs.......more countries will follow (EU directive?)........can't imagine that they'll exclude motorcycles. Technology will develop and they'll get faster/cheaper/more range.
