Helppp!! Leathers Advice

  1. Update

Have spoken with Held and the Race Evo suit is discontinued.. have spoken with them direct and through sportbike shop They've recommended the slade suit they actually said "the race Evo is unnecessary and didn't offer much over the popular slade race suit" so they've decided to stop production.

Shame as I was fully game for one guess I'll go with the slade now.

  2. I've got the Slade suit - It's excellent quality and (for me) an excellent fit, with excellent protection. You won't be disappointed.

  3. A big factor is that apparently it's much lighter than the race Evo and easier to move in.

    Happy days

  4. Christ........how heavy were the Race Evo leathers then? Mine weigh a ton.

  5. I bought my Alpinestars airbag race suit+vest last Thursday,(got a £100 discount) ;) next day out on track.
It felt very comfortable couldn't notice the extra weight.
Easy to set up after 1 hour charging in the garage.
It is possible to download a road software,(uses different algorithms to trigger) therefore the vest itself could be used on the road (in the leather suit or separate jacket)

Shame Held doesn't do airbag suits.:(

  6. I'm considering this colour https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/113156

think it looks really nice however I'm slightly concerned about the red stretch panels turning well..... not red anymore after a good coating of road/track shite....

  7. So, which one is it then?

  9. Dave always had the best suits. :upyeah:

  10. I ordered the slade yesterday in size 48 which is what my rst is. Fingers crossed it fits!

  11. Why didn't you go to a local dealer and try some on? You could then haggle over price too.

  12. Was really struggling to find anywhere that stocked them... a few said they could get it but couldn't find anyone who actually had them in ... :(

  13. Shame. When I was trying leathers on I found that the Held ones were similarly sized to Dianese leathers. If that's any help.

  14. No, it doesn't. Having tried on the very latest Dainese 2 piece, the cut of the jacket has most definitely changed in comparison to my existing 4 year old Diainese leather jacket. I found that the Alpinestar 2 piece fitted more comfortably which it never used to (late 90s Ben Bostrum). Andy

  15. I tried the Held Slade one piece, Dianese (can't remember which model) and they were similarly sized. I also tried the Alpinestars, RST and another brand I can't remember. They were all too baggy around the arse and if I got the chest fit right then they were too long in the leg for me.

The reason I went for the Held Slade suit was that they were all black, and not blinged up like the Dianese ones, and I managed to get a better deal on the price.

  16. I'm tall and well built with long levers. 1 piece suits, if I can get a UK50, are always too short in the rise, 2 piece jackets the right size for my chest and shoulders are too short in the arm and 2 piece trousers the right size in the waist are too short in the leg. We are not quite so blessed in NE Hampshire/ West Berkshire with retail outlets that have a selection of leathers to try on. Dainese, Alpinestar, the odd Furygan and Fffffrank Thomas. I feel very deprived :(. Andy

  17. Hideout made to measur. :)

  18. Yes I know. On the up side I'm retired but sadly on the down side, can't afford that sort of money anymore. Andy

  19. I picked up a "new to me" ducati corse suit for pennies on the pound... Couldn't find any real reviews online, but went with it anyway. Considering they are made by dainese, they can't be too bad. Haven't used them yet, but looking forward to. One of the shoulder sliders has a small dent in it, any chance it might be replaceable?
