Agree. The gearbox takes 1000 miles or so to bed in, and keeps improving. Mine with about 5K miles has no false neutrals at all and the change is pretty good. At the 600 mile service they should check idling revs hot and cold, among other things, and adjust if necessary.
A 42t rear sprocket improved the low speed behaviour on mine no end. On standard gearing I always felt the bike was in between two gears. Also, on collection I was told not to worry too much about running it in. Just not to labour the engine too much and not give it the 'full english' until after the first service.
My gearbox is stiffer than a Priest in a Boys school, especially around 1/2/N, but it has only done about 30 miles. Fuel sender failed before I rode it, lol, but apart from that all good. Need some time to understand it all, lots of small stuff on dash that my 58 year old mince pies can't read!
I got advised to follow the break in period and that it was important for engine health and life. I spend all my time looking at the rev counter
That's great until something goes wrong, then all you have is some bloke telling you not to worry. Run it in properly as they can track back what you've done through the ECU.
The snatchy throttle is very common. My new 2017 1200s is in for a slight oil leak. I have had the 1200 17 plate on loan with same low speed lurching. Now on a 17 plate 1200s with 1500 miles on. Its excactly the same as mine & the 1200. Dealer says the exhaust valve idea is crap & lot disconnect it. Mines coming off at weekend when they put the full termi kit & remap, so hope this all goes away. I,m no amateur to bikes & spent most of my life on 2 wheels trials riding as well so i know a crap throttle. However i have spoke to a few other multi riders who say there bike is perfect at low speed , low revs. Also the gearbox issue, totally agree with other replies that the box gets better with use.
Only done 350 miles, but already, apart from 1/2/N being notchy at slow speed, the rest of the box is slick as you like and no false neutrals anywhere. Was stiff as heck for first 30 miles though.
