  1. Hi

Purchased a 748s 2002 Biposto , she is stock with Remus Exhausts

Would like to leverage the experience of owners

    • Is it advised to upgrade starter cables ?
    • 15/50 Motul 300 Oil seems to be the recommended
    • Upgrading clutch and brake lines to Goodridge racing
    • Ordered Brembo Ceramic Brake pads Street/ odd track day
    • Want to get 45mm Termignoni at some stage , do they require an ECU tweak , I notice a few Ducati chips on ebay 965014AAA?
    • Germany guy on Ebay for Tank Protector & Key guard
    • Any recommendations where to get Mono Posto seat?
    • Air filters , BMC & Pipercross appear to be the only aftermarket kits?Whats Best?
    • Tail Tidy , R&G appears to be the only one?

Is it advised to upgrade starter cables ? On my O2 748s upgraded starter cables made little difference to the starting or speed of cranking, but they cannot be a bad thing and are easy to fit. Will certainly prevent issues resulting from cable and contact deterioration
15/50 Motul 300 Oil seems to be the recommended Yes, but there are some others that will work just as well
Upgrading clutch and brake lines to Goodridge racing, Never bothered with mine although it came with braided lines
Ordered Brembo Ceramic Brake pads Street/ odd track day Tried a number of pads over 50k km and the best ones (for feel, power, wear and wet performance) have always been stock but I don't use the bike for track days
Want to get 45mm Termignoni at some stage , do they require an ECU tweak , Yes but if you are fitting new filters as well you will need to get the chip custom mapped to get the best performance. The chips sold as upgrades are approximate or generic maps, there is no substitute for a correctly mapped ecu
Germany guy on Ebay for Tank Protector & Key guard Whatever takes your fancy
Any recommendations where to get Mono Posto seat? Patience and wait for something to come up on ebay
Air filters , BMC & Pipercross appear to be the only aftermarket kits?Whats Best? No idea, whatever you use will need mapping.
Tail Tidy , R&G appears to be the only one? Never found one that was worth the expense or hassle of fitting it, whatever takes your fancy

Am I missing a piece for the rear seat or just badly put on?

  5. seat badly put on. Re cables, not meaning to contradict denzil but it's is one of the best mods I done to mine. Wish I had done it before the sprag went and cost me hundreds.
key guards' are ugly.. Just use the key with no shit hanging off it and you'll gave no probs.
enjoy the bike, they are awesome

  6. Rear seat removal, unlock it, lock under nearside rear, lift, then remove the two pins at the front hinge and one electrical plug.

  9. Carlo, you have the original cables fitted, upgraded ones look like this IMG_0015.JPG

Chizel, on mine they had little effect but I still recommended them in my post above

  10. Carlo, it looks like the seat and tank are not correctly mounted and the seat can be removed in two minutes. As stated above there is two plastic pins that go through the seat hinge at the front, they should have a removable rubber connecting band between them to stop them coming adrift, when you remove the pins control the hinge as it can slam if you let it go. Remember to disconnect the rear light loom connector fitted to the underside so you can remove it easily. If you take the tank off try a little petroleum jelly on the airbox seal and locating pin and it will seat better when you put it back on. Also be wary of losing the rubber mounting bush for the tank bolt and the fuel line connectors. The S connectors are quick release and have o rings which can very easily be damaged, again a little petroleum jelly will offer a degree of protection when you push them back on.

  11. Thanks! again Denzel!

    Great info

  12. Carlo, is it a MY02 or MY01 registered in 2002?

Also looks like you are missing the lower exhaust collector mounting bracket

  13. I have no idea , waiting on the log book , could tell you then

it has Showa suspension , not too sure if the later models had ohlins

  14. MY01 Mono

    MY02 Bip

  15. Later model still has Showa forks. 2002 MY had solid slab type fairing panels same as 998. Not sure but may also have lowered exhaust cam - easy way to tell is if the cover plate between the cam pullies has 5 bolts, the earlier models only had 4.
Looks like the frame is silver grey which would suggest a later model.

  16. Front head looks like the older style non-dropped cam from the pics, also got Dzus fastener fairing mounts (could have been changed?) which were eliminated on some later models but as you say the frame is grey (not bronze) which came later.

Does it have the adjustable steering head? can't see from the pics.

And, yes the lower exhaust bracket is not fitted although that might be a good thing as it transfers more heat into the brake master cylinder and mine actually cracked the weld on the pipe there from expansion...
