  3. Nah, you got me all wrong, I'm more of a Casey Stoner fan just without the moaning ;)

Besides, if people didn't keep buying the Multistrada this forum would probably die on its arse.

I mean when Brexit is done, and Trump is out of office, what else is going to fill the forum other than the daily Multistrada struggle between Good & Evil? :upyeah:

Thank christ theres a new faster 1260 version coming, i cant wait to hear the stories about the upgraded fuel sender and luggage tabs.......again :kissing_heart:

  5. Ahh yes, topics close to my heart.

And yet still the multistrada always seems to rise to the top of the forum posts, almost like an aerated pooh, it just refuses to be flushed away :)

  6. No issues with mine Damo, touch wood ? Its a very good bike and like most who ride one, I would struggle to find an alternative that does what it does. I have had no reliability issues so far with the DVT and only minor issues with the last two Multi's. Wait and see what the revised KTM 1290 GT is like, that may get some attention ? And like most current owners, will be interested to see the new 1260, but am not desperate to buy one, as the Multi price increase maybe just a step too far ?

  7. Im only messing mate, they're a very good bike, i just like the daily struggle posts :)

I just found the DVT a bit low slung in riding position vs the 2012s that i had, on that i felt more on top sort of supermoto style vs the arm chair sink i felt on the DVT, it just didn't do it for me I guess.

Thats the struggle of being tall, it doesn't take much to feel like my knees are up in my ears :)

  8. Being a dwarf it's why I love the DVT, oh! and the fact it's a bloody awesome bike. :)

  9. I agree @broke, and currently IMO, there is no alternative to the MTS, but if someone comes along thats not Ducati with a bike that suits my needs ? Ducati's prices are whats putting me off buying another new one, so I'll keep mine till something else floats the boat :upyeah:

  10. Try this.
Same format as the MTS, more powerful with the usual KTM sweet chassis and £2000 cheaper.
The 1290 GT is a different kettle of fish really. Its a supernaked with a screen (well OK bit more to it than that, but its an old-school sports tourer with the emphasis on sport and definitely not an upright - it even has a slightly more sporty riding position the the Superduke its based on). Ditto the MT10 - an accessorised supernaked not an adventure bike and I would say smaller, less roomy and less distance-capable than either the KTM GT, the Ducati MTS or any other true adventure uprights. Great bikes but not the same dynamic. Personally, for touring duties I prefer the upright formula, and the S, not the GT, is KTM's Multistrada equivalent. (Not to be confused with the R - off-road version: 21" front wheel, long travel manual suspension, or the SA - giant tanked long range version).

  12. So your saying after a few pints you'd probably give it a bash....excuse the pun?

Or are we saying it would need to wear a Burka?

  13. There ain't enough Stella in Belgium, and there ain't a Burka dark enough !!!

  14. Oh plenty did, but they're not legally obligated to refund or replace until they've at least had an opportunity to resolve the issue and repair it. Nor are any manufacturers legally obligated to give you a loan vehicle if yours is being repaired for an extended length of time under warranty.

Legal obligations are one thing, and BMW worked completely within the letter of consumer law in relation to that particular recall, however customer service levels are defined by a dealer or manufacturer going beyond their minimum obligation. That particular event should give everyone just the right level of expectation when it comes to BMW motorad customer service - ie, it's non-f-ing-existent once they've got your cash.

  15. Unfortunately it's not the same format as the MTS. Completely different geometry.

  16. I just looked up some data on how manys left.
3500 MTS1200 taxed this year (that's total legally on the road) so I thought that would be more than all the other Dukes put together.
    Wrong.
    Panigale 2900 bikes...
Just as a check I did the R32 Golf at 6300 and the 749R 29 with tax and 63 SORN.

I think we do more miles on the Mutley, paid a lot for them and expect a lot of them.
Still think it's the best all round bike I've ever had or will.

  17. I think the question you should ask yourself is would have any other Manufacturer done it any other way, I doubt it very very much. I doubt BMW had a lot of choice.
Fact is these days I think they are all as bad as each other, all have recalls, all are racing to get their bikes on the market before they are ready, and hoping problems found by customers are easily resolved through the same shit process of first software updates, then hardware.

Seems it is just luck now we get a model that works, the only good part in general is the bike rarely let you down on the side of the road, (bar the BMW RT one of course :(

Not just bikes now though, it is everything we buy new.

  18. its not the only thing i a becoming averse to btw. but if you dont wont answers or personal thoughts backed up with evidence dont raise the topic. btw multistrada suck. i read it in a forum.

  19. I agree in as far as sometimes sh!t happens and a fault can arise from sheer bad luck and unforeseen circumstances, as well as from just pure bad planning and design. It might be that it's unfair to judge them on the issue of something going wrong, but it is absolutely fair and right to judge them on how they deal with it. As customers we are not obligated to tolerate it, and as such we can decide to engage with a manufacturer or not depending on what we know about their past performance from either what we read in the media or have experienced first hand.

I've had to go through the recall process with Yamaha before now but all I can tell you is that the dealer bent over backwards to ensure I was inconvenienced as little as possible. They collected the bike from my home at a time of my choosing, left me with a loaner, and returned it back to my home. In the circumstances I literally could not have asked them to do any more.

By contrast the widely covered episode of the BMW R1200RT suspension failure was an entirely different experience for many owners that all too willingly shared their experiences online, and my friends experience was entirely consistent with everything else that was written in the press and was nothing short of a scandal. It wasn't just a matter of popping into a dealer to have something replaced or modified because BMW told owners NOT TO RIDE THE BIKE because it was dangerous. Therefore, owners couldn't/wouldn't even ride their bike to the dealer and in some cases had to organise their own way of getting bikes back to dealers because dealers wouldn't even collect the bikes themselves. People were left without a bike because BMW wouldn't/couldn't provide loan bikes, didn't even know how to fix the issue themselves, or they did they completely failed to coordinate the fix with dealers, and it literally went on for months. It doesn't matter which way you look at it, it was badly handled and an utter PR disaster and people cancelled orders for new bikes.

  20. Erm....not sure how to make it clearer ... the ktm is simply TOO TALL so not an alternative at all ;)
